"I think that as a head coach she let her emotions get in the way of what was important. She cared way too much about being liked instead of teaching and guiding her swimmers on the sport. I lost a lot of drive for the sport while she was in charge. She has many personal issues to work through before being in charge of 40-50 young adults. 6 girls and 2 coaches left the program while I was on the team. She does not represent Lasalle swim and dives core. She created a horrible environment. I suggest that she take a break from coaching all together. She was quite honestly the worst coach I’ve ever had. "
"Kerry Smith continues to ruin athletes experience at La Salle University. She disorganized, unfair, and cannot communicate. She continues to lie and do anything to make her look better instead of caring about what the team needs. She hurts the team culture and struggles to know and respect the boundaries of her swimmers. I do not recommend any team that she’s a head coach for. "
"Picks a player or two per season to be a scapegoat and is horrible to them. Does not teach. No plays, no subbing, runs players ragged. Is indifferent to the effect she has on players. Unorganized and doesn't seem to want to be there"
"Kerry will respect you if you respect her. She is an understanding person who wants you to do well inside and outside of the pool, academically and mentally. No "garbage-yardage", instead she focuses on details... She wants to connect with her athletes on a personal level and makes time on the pool deck worthwhile. A big sports fan that gets very intense when watching any sport really, but primarily swimming. The only flaw is that she can be a bit disorganised and lacks communication skills at some times. Kerry is ambitious and sets aims to take LSUSD to the next level. It is a shame that those swimmers that were on the team when she first got the position at La Salle rejected her instantly. The main reason to why the new swimmers committed to La Salle was Kerry. Not only do the swimmers appreciate her but she supports athletes from other teams aswell. "
"Coach Kerry Smith has successfully ruined the sport of swimming for me. Not only is she disrespectful to her athletes, she does not care about academics, athlete mental health, team mentality, positivity, or the values that LaSalle represents as a community. She fakes caring, she will fool you with the tricks, lies, and the pre-written speeches. Nothing Kerry could do or say could redeem the way in which she destroyed my collegiate D1 swimming experience. To add to this, when she was confronted about it, she gaslight myself, my family, and the athletic dept. "
"Loves the game not the best at creating a competitive environment, low accountability for the team, blamed herself. Did not want to “punish” or directly hold players accountable, created a dynamic in which players could walk all over her. She definitely cares for the team and players but recruits, competitiveness, and overall performance lacks. "
"From an international point I have won the lottery with coach Peterson. We got asked to tick a few boxes but there is not enough to describe him. My experience has been amazing and I would recommend anyone to get coached by him.
He’s a unique coach as he relates to you because he has been there himself therefore he knows what we go through in our day to day. He will talk one on ones very often to make sure we are confortable and happy with he’s coach and upcoming races. "
"Tom Peterson is like none other. He works to develop not only the athlete but the person. He really helps you become the best that you can be. La Salle is privileged to have Tom Peterson as a coach. "
