"I only had one year with Coach, but that season was intense, full of learning, and crucial to my development as both a person and player. That is one of the most powerful aspects of Coach Marty as a coach, that he will impact you in the game AND out of it. He is gifted with powerful words and demands respect, and is very direct and real, and is not sorry about honesty. As I eluded to, I stayed last year for one season, and we as a team had a tough season. But, the season taught me more than almost any other life experience, and Coach Marty was a monumental impact and someone who I have nothing but respect for."

From day one, he set a standard of discipline, accountability, and consistency that pushed me to grow beyond what I thought I was capable of. He didn’t just coach the game, he taught us how to approach challenges, stay mentally tough, and carry ourselves with purpose on and off the court. Honestly, basketball was the easy part. What stood out most was his genuine belief in his players, along with his vast knowledge of the game. Coach Marty has an incredible ability to teach the details, breaking down situations, reading the game, and understanding what it takes to compete at a higher level. Because of him, I see the game differently now, and I feel fully prepared and confident to take the next step in my basketball career. He took time to develop us individually, not just as athletes but as young men, emphasizing character, responsibility, and preparation for life after basketball. Because of him, I left the program better in every way, more disciplined, more confident, and more prepared for whatever comes next. I’m grateful for the role he played in my development and the standard he set that I still carry with me today. "
