"Stripped all of my love for the game. She tells you what you want to hear, and if you are not a favorite, it's like you do not even exist. If you're a favorite you can make as many mistakes as you please, but if you aren't you make one mistake and you are out. She stripped me of every ounce of confidence I had and made me feel worthless."
"Cat Clifford makes players want to quit softball. She gives no hope of team or individual improvement. She smiles and tries to appear nice and honest. Don't be fooled! She is vindictive and is known to lie. You never know what you are dealing with because she is so dishonest and unfair. She proudly plays favorites to the most extreme level. Everyone knows who her favorite players are and they get all the opportunities even if they aren't performing. She pretty much almost destroyed Manhattan College Softball with her tactics. The school was right to dismiss her. Her practices are HS level practices. "
"Coach Pardalis definitely plays favorites. He has an old school mentality and can play head games with some of his players or make them feel like they aren’t good enough. He values education but doesn’t genuinely care about players when they are struggling or underperforming. He is stubborn and gets out coached always in big games. He has a temper and all the parents see it displayed during games. He will turn around and kick dirt up while you’re batting if you take a strike which is uncomfortable. During NCAA playoffs he broke a clipboard on ESPN+ which was so embarrassing for the program. His practices are repetitive and lazy. His captains are puppet masters for him and he’s pretty oblivious to the team drama/culture problems. Overall I did not see him as a fair coach. He could be very cold for an old man. He loves players that donate to the program - if you or your parents don’t pay up he will hold it against you. He’s miserable. "
"Cat Clifford creates an overall unfair, dishonest, and rather miserable softball program. Every athlete has at least a little desire to quit, and same for assistant coaches under Cat. She is terrible at communicating the truth. Makes up empty promises and it's basically like she's saying what you want to hear at all times. It doesn't matter how many times you bring up the same topic in order to work through it--she will not change her approach and will babble on about the most random things that don't even connect. Plays favorites like I've never seen before. VERY good at being fake. "
"Brendan is a very nice person and a good coach if you are looking for a not very intense division 1 team. He is very defensive minded so if you’re looking to score a lot of goals u should look somewhere else. The game plan stays the same whether you are winning or losing. Brendan cares about each player and understands if you do something wrong inside or outside of school. "
"Has her favorite players and not afraid to show it. They can strike out game after game and miss plays repeatedly and never loose their starting spot. You can tell which players she doesn't like at all and for no good reason. Allows players to be rude to Asst Coach and each other, which creates a very toxic environment and no team bonding. Practice plan is always the same and does not build athleticism. Doesn't have a plan B for games and repeats the same mistakes. Does not communicate well and is hard to approach. "
"Work ethic through the roof. Is an intense competitor who prepares you to play each day, practice or games. Has created a great team first culture in just one year and has immense respect for players and program."
"Pat did a great job leading both sprint and fly groups. He comes up with the most creative and individualized sets out of all coaches to focus on what his athletes need. He is very knowledgeable in technique and definitely made me a better swimmer. Unfortunately, I do not think the head coaching staff gives him the freedom/ decision making power he deserves. He is outgoing, organized, and motivational. "
"Overall Pat was in my opinion the best coach at UMBC. He was the most knowledgable about technique and taught his swimmers in a more modern way. When he lead practices he motivated his swimmers and was super passionate. I feel that Pat isn't given enough room and freedom to coach as the head coach holds him back. If the team was lead by Pat or if Pat was given more freedom to do what he thinks is right then the team would be headed in the right direction. At the moment it is not..... quality /depth wise it'll hit rock bottom in coming years. "
"Unfortunately she was my coach during college. She made my college experience miserable and I hated going to practice. I don't want anyone to go through what me and my teammates did. She is very negative person and hates all the players. She was mentally abusing most of the girls on my team and trying to manipulate them. She also doesn't have the competence and knowledge needed to be a volleyball coach. The practices we had were a joke. She has no idea what she is doing during practice. She never has a plan and is disoriented. "
"The worst coach I've ever had in my life! She has zero volleyball knowledge and is a terrible person. Abusive towards the players. Very negative atmosphere in the gym. She should never be allowed to coach girls! "
"Fosters bad team culture and is a bystander to bullying on and off the field. Impatient, will get angry and yell at individuals or the team as a whole quickly in practice. Puts pressure on players instead of fostering a positive environment and encouraging them to succeed. Does not value her players' time. Many athletes quit or leave..."
"Cares about grades but is legit clueless. Practices are disorganized, just focuses on defense. Working hard or even doing well does not mean you’ll get playing time. Often is randomly in a bad mood and will get angry during practices. Goes through phases of picking on specific players and favoring others, it shows a lot. The seniors have a lot of power: they will go up to her and tell her who they don’t want to play with and she does whatever they say it’s a joke really."
"Athletic complex is a bit off campus, you can walk there but the area is not very safe and gross. The locker rooms are good, trainers are never available, no fueling station or athlete specific dining hall. No benefits really to being an athlete at Manhattan tbh except you get to say you play a D1 sport but even my own teammates would say any NESCAC D3 school could easily beat us. The field is not owned by the school so you can’t just go whenever because more often than not it will be occupied by other teams from other schools or the GAA or closed. There also only is ONE field. I would walk over there so much to do extra work and it’s always either closed or occupied which was such a pain, because I needed the extra reps because our practices were useless.
A bigger training room, a practice field or even just a schedule to see when it’s open and a fueling station would help.
Imo the facilities don’t meet the standards for a D1 school."
"Such a nice person but just not a good coach. Team defense is great, but has no understanding of offense. Basically no requirements for fitness, she did our conditioning last year we would just randomly do a few sprints now and then. Has high demands for grades you bring in but lacks understanding of how to actually help (will advise you to use a planner but that’s it lol) Will get a full 20+ hours out of you even in fall. Film is huge. Team culture is not great, a lot of complaining (it always seems like players don’t want to be there and put in the work), a lot of gossiping, when things go bad no one wants to hold themselves accountable not even the coach, everyone just blames each other."
"Super nice when visited. Completely different person when you are on the team. Could care less about how you are doing in classes. Transferred after first semester. Entire team culture is not a good environment. Multiple people transferred out my year. "
"The campus was really cool and the facilities were really up to date especially for indoor track throwing. The coach gave off a weird vibe and it didnt help that the trip was mainly with him. "
"Incredible coach and supportive of all his athletes. Helping them navigate college education first and foremost while building great soccer players and community members "
"Bridget Hurlman, along with assistant coach Mary Holt, strip you of your love for the game. These women will bully you into making you think you are less than an ball player. They make you feel small, ugly, guilty of your own talent by breaking you down mentally and emotionally. It is a shame what Hurlman does to her players. Please go elsewhere. "
"I have never been more embarrassed to play softball in my life. Bridget nor her assistant coach Mary Holt know a thing about softball. This program is horrible not because of the talent they have, but because of the two people making the decisions. "
"In the beginning of my softball career, she was a decent coach. She was good with communication, teaching, and all aspects of coaching, but by the end she has become lazy. She doesn't do much really, our assistant coach takes the role of the head coach. She does not do her job anymore period."
"Coach Bridget is very knowledgable of the game, but she could share more with us. She's NOT extremely "involved." She is always present (usually), but leaves much of the work for others"
"Bridget Hurlman is the worst coach/person that I have ever played for in my entire life. She is dishonest, petty, childish, unprofessional, and ignorant. She plays favorites and are blatantly rude to people they don't like. She is unfit to be a coach of any kind and should have never been hired for this position. "
"Favoritism, people can miss practice and still start, holds different standards for people, if she doesn't like you you're never gonna get a chance unless it is to set you up for more failure so they have an "excuse" not to play you again. Headcoach and assistant coach are selfish and don't care about their players they only care about themselves "
"Dishonest. Only cares about herself. Treats staff poorly (doesn't like the trainer so she doesn't let her travel with the team) and only plays favorites. She is never around. Very lazy. Does not help out URI or its community. Does not take responsability for her actions. Very mean and blows situations out of proportion. Overall, terrible. "
"He loves the game of softball and it shows in practice. Very relaxed environment which makes playing very enjoyable. He is very personable and makes it a family environment. Love playing for him I feel at home!"

"He is a great coach. Practice is a combination of intense drills and a fun learning environment. He likes to make up drills on the fly but the team is always up for the challenge. He is very caring and loves the sport. Playing for him has made my time at this college very enjoyable. "
"She is absolutely horrible. Makes up lies, if she don’t like you she treats you nasty. Very rude and makes rude comments. Talks about other players to players. Does not coach players she doesn’t like. Plays favorites and is the worst coach/person I have ever met"
"It was honestly like being an unwanted child. We got nothing. News articles and meet results came out as late as a month after the fact. Manhattan College tries to promote itself as a strong supporter of all its sports, but sadly its more of a mild toleration outside of basketball."
