"puts a lot of pressure on athletes who didn’t ask for it. will call and harass athletes over the phone, threatening to take scholarships away in their first semester (even though that athlete was in the top 7 and doing fine)
is always late half the time and only cares about self few athletes. he needs to retire. "
"At Oberlin she is incredibly motivated: researches other teams, prepares highlight films, recruits more than any preceding coach, etc. She is also incredibly positive. She understands how to invest in people to get returns. She has a strong relationship with her assistant coaches. "
"Knowledgeable about the sport but absolutely is dog s**t at communication. Athletes are left on read/delivered for hours or days at a time. Cares about a selected number of athletes and leaves the other hanging. Creates unrealistic expectations for some athletes. Various actions are an embarrassment to the athletes. Needs to take a professionalism and communication class. "
"Coach Putnam has been so great for our program. He really cares about the athletes on the team. He wants everyone to be the best version of themselves. "
"Unfortunately, before he was forced to resign, he made poor decisions on and off the field. He was incapable of making necessary changes (over years) to improve performance. Same poor results every game. The team lost on opponents corner kicks every single game for multiple seasons. The best players with options transferred out to another school. It was frustrating. On more than one occasion when players were doing well or even scored, he would remove them from the g*****s if he was trying to lose. Mind boggling. He also texted younger individual players to randomly meet up on outside hours crossing player/coach boundaries. Working with young women athletes was not a good fit for him. Perhaps he was too young and inexperienced for this position. Disappointing in every account. "
"One of the worst communicators I've ever encountered, passed being mean off as tough love, didn't even ride the bus to meets, didn't see him at practice most of the semester, and I'm glad he's out of coaching, hopefully forever."
"Is very bad at communicating with athletes about scheduling and other events. Is hardly ever on time to practice or shows up 1-2 minutes before. Has proximity issues and all around is just unprofessional. While he knows a lot about the sport, he expects a lot more out of the athletes than what they are willing to give, considering we all chose a d3 school so we could focus on learning and have xc as an outlet, not a stressor. "
"I have never had a more caring coach, nor one that did so much more than was asked of him. He really stepped up when our program wasn't in the best place."
"I was terrible at rowing before I had Coach Myhr as a coach. He believed in me and helped me get so much better at rowing then I ever thought I could and he is still helping me get better to this day. "
"A man who truly believes what is best for you is best for the team. Great at all levels of experience. A man who shows what the depth of knowledge in the sport can bring to a team. "
"Coach Putnam isn’t very good at responding to your texts or talking to you in general. Everything is last minuet. Coach has no organization. Expects a lot out of the runners but has fun with it. Very knowledgeable about running and even runs and bikes along with the athletes. "
"Greg Myhr needs to be coach of the year every year. He’s got a great attitude and creates a great team culture. Really knows his stuff. Overall 11/10 rating really goes above and beyond.
