"This guys is singlehandedly responsible for keeping Keith Detelj on staff.The coach has been there three years as women's head lacrosse coach and he has had three years of exit interviews by athletes and has IGNORED the women. He constantly starts sentences with "not to be sexist but"....you know when you lead with that it's sexist. he also holds exit interviews with NCAA compliance there and doesn't keep it confidential!!! Then Tim will question the outgoing class and say he doesn't hear from the underclassmen so the issue must not be that big.Hello Tim, you don't keep the confidence of the female athletes. The underclassmen are terrified to come to you. The compliance officer liz needs to do a better job keeping things confidential as well. NCAA is a broken system without the athletes best interest. Tim, do your job and fire this guy!"

"I am writing this as a parent who had a trauma bonding experience with all the parents because of this coach. He tortured the players. He crossed boundaries, he was allergic to any sort of team bonding that wasn't lacrosse focused. He undermined his players. He tried to pit them against each other. He is not bright. This matters as a coach. You need to have some level of intelligence to coach the game. He's impossible to talk to --zero social skills. He doesn't understand female athletes at all. he has been at the school for three years. Each year the outgoing class is asked to help the ones still left in the abuse. Yet the concerns are swept under the rug. President Weinman and Tim Murray need to be held to account. It's an absolute joke that the team is a part of Morgan's Message which is about athlete mental health. what a joke when the school doesn't back it up for its own athletes. They need to put their money where their mouth is.Don't sponsor morgan's message and ignore your own athletes!! Insanity. Many of us were approached by the underclassmen parents and BEGGEDto please help them get this guy out. All the younger parents and players are terrified to voice their concerns because this dude is retaliatory and the athletic director and compliance officer can't be trusted to keep confidences. What a disaster!!!! NCAA needs to do a better job at protecting their athletes and be able to lodge complaints with no fear of retaliation!!! There are also parents who see what seems to be unsavory obsessions with certain players that it almost seems he has a romantic crush on them. It goes beyond favoritism. I watched him torture his starters, his captains, his benchwarmers. At all levels he tortured the players. Many of the parents who have left are in the lacrosse world as club coaches or in the Long Island lacrosse rich area and everyone tells people DO NOT GO TO MARIST WITH KEITH. STAY AWAY. Biggest regret is not encouraging the athlete to transfer. One positive is that the girls the team are great girls and the team itself has a good bonding culture in spite of the coach. TERRIBLE. PS he also drives away his assistant coaches. One Skylar has stayed but she plays both sides. She has her own back and rarely the girls which my guess is survival. So it's hard to blame her. PPSS. he tried to cancel senior day festivities, ceremonies, because that evidently is why the team loses Couldn't be his coaching... This guy is a zero. If could have given him zero stars I would."

"I have lived breathed and eaten lacrosse my entire life. This coach made me hate the game. And it's not just me....every single athlete at one point or another has made that claim. It's a battle to keep your love of the game. How you come in as a freshman is how you'll leave after four years. You will improve zero aspects of your game. It's important to know that this feedback comes from all players whether you start and play a lot or Sit on the bench. Every coach should have the goal of getting the most out of every player. He is demotivating. you have to fight through his constant mind bend to get through the season. What is most upsetting is that the athletic director is literally in his back pocket. It's sick. He is just as bad and has to go. When you have three years of teams going in and begging the athletic director to listen and he just ignores the players there's an issue.Also I will say that the underclassmen beg the upperclassmen every year to help them get a new coach. Every single player. Keith is the type who will see this review and call in each player and put them on the spot and ask them if this is true. Of course for survival the players will say no.But that is the kind of coach he is..literally allergic to self-reflection. "Coach Keith is the worst coach I have had in my entire career playing sports. On every single coaching measure he is terrible. This is not an exaggeration. He doesn't understand the women's game ( he tries to play a men's offense). He is not supportive. He tries his best to turn players against each other (thankfully, the team is very well-bonded so none of us fall for it). He had a question on the questionnaire that read "tell me who on the team you don't like ore get along with" and he indicated you can't say no one! He would try to get teammates to rat each other out. He tries to get in the player's heads. He is not supportive. He purposely plays head games. He blames ridiculous things on losses instead of looking at his own terrible coaching. Like for example, the midfielders aren't allowed to cut! Makes zero sense. No one, and I mean no one on the team likes him as a coach. Everyone tolerates him for survival. For three years, the players have tried to get him to get fired. The athletic director doesn't care at all about the players (that's another story). When you have three full teams - and I mean 100% agreement, and every single player from the starters to benchwarmers- saying a coach needs to go, the university has an obligation to pay attention. But yet they ignore the player please because this guy is Marist royalty (just because he may have been a good athlete doesn't make him a good coach) The guy has no business being near young women. He's also inappropriate (walking into locker rooms when girls are changing, yelling at a player for going to target to get tampons and then insisting she needs to disclose that to him, fat shaming players, etc). He's controlling beyond what is reasonable for a sports team. He also has no regard at all for school--like actually zero regard. It's division 1, we all expect to have the sport come first. He doesn't even think we should be taking classes. This guy needs to go and everyone from the president of the university to the athletic director should hang their heads in shame for allowing him to stay for three years."

"Coach lets the players she likes pick who they want to play on the field. So if you are not in that click, you likely will not play at all or a few minutes. School is nice, facilities are good enough, soccer is not good."

"Don’t be fooled by the nice campus and college that Marist has to offer. If you play for this coach, don’t expect to step on the field during a game unless your playing style is low on soccer skill and high on general running around aimlessly. Basic coach fundamentals are bad and practices focus on running. "

"Where to begin… this guy is awful. Kind of knows lacrosse but knows nothing about his players, so he cannot create plays that play to anyone’s strengths. Can’t coach a close game for the life of him. Can barely coach a game that isn’t close either. Does not know how to motivate a team at all. Might know a little bit about being a men’s lacrosse player, but has no coaching abilities. Leadership, communication, and motivation are non-existent. He cannot connect with players on a personal level… he even struggles to keep eye contact. Harps on non-issues while the team has years of losing records - and blames the loses on these non-issues despite the fact that he cannot coach to win a game. For example, blames losses on things such as; girls on the sideline not wearing puffer jackets, talking about school work on the bus, too much time in the sun, and drinking soda. Makes players feel very uncomfortable, has female players 1 on 1 in his office with the door closed. Calls girls on the team “big,” and makes consistent comments on what they eat. Blames issues with certain players on their parents’ influence, but can’t create good relationships with parents to save his life. Tells players about his private family issues, i.e., personal trauma... things that should not be relayed to players. He will call and text players at unreasonable hours and expects a response, but when players text him about important information they are left on read without clear communication. On multiple occasions he’s walked into our locker room without notice, seeing girls in the middle of changing. There was an instance where he sent a butt-dial type drunk email to a recruit. Another time that he failed to follow through on a meet-up with a commit and the girl decommitted as a result. He is the worst!"

"All this coach cares about is running. So, if you are an average to bad soccer player, but a good runner, then you are just what this coach is looking for. Soccer skill, knowledge, technique and IQ are not priories. Running is the priority. "

"Campbell seems like a solid coach at first glance, but being an athlete under him will kill your rowing career. He claims to be an exercise science major, but understands nothing about how the human body functions in training. He blames his athletes, but when the entire team is stagnating while doing his training plan that is obviously not the case. Myself and several other athletes made our own training plans and immediately saw better results. He also used extremely vulgar language(directed at multiple rowers including a female coxswain) in front of several teams at the IRA. He will also talk about athletes behind their backs and has overall created a toxic environment. I believe he is passionate about the sport but I would not recommend him to any athletes moving forward."

"Sean Byron is the worst coach I’ve ever played for. Coaching wise, he never keeps the same system in place for longer than 2 weeks and is constantly teaching a different technique and method for every aspect of the game. You will not become a better player. When you ask him questions about anything regarding volleyball, he will get mad at you because he is unable to answer your questions and instead say “your job as an athlete is to say Yes Coach and do what I say” He treats injured athletes horribly and makes them feel guilty about their injury He pits girls against eachother He makes it abundantly clear who his favorites are He is sensitive and short tempered He destroys the self esteem of young women He creates a toxic team culture "

"Kinda have mixed feelings about him. Don't disagree with some of the negative things said but Campbell does have some good moments that has helped me. Definitely plays favorites though which makes it frustrating when deciding who's in what boat. "

Wants you to succeed but will talk about you negatively behind your back to other athletes causing them to belittle the negatively spoken athlete. Has great technical knowledge but doesn’t do much coaching on the water. Will listen to concerns and suggestions but doesn’t actually seem to care about them as coach campbell will rarely take them into effect. I understand that the coach shouldn’t need to take every concern or suggestion into action however if something is negatively affecting multiple athletes causing some of them to quit then something should be done differently to prevent that from happening moving forward. "I think Coach Campbell is a great coach to work with. Honestly, I’ve only seen overtraining happen due to athlete controlled factors such as lifting outside of recommended days/times as well as athlete nutrition. I took a star off motivation because specifically at the collegiate level, motivation increasingly must be intrinsic from an athlete. It’s not up to a coach to tell an athlete to do secondaries outside of practice. That being said he does encourage them. I think that that last point can become contentious between athlete and coach. Coach Campbell will not mince words if you have not improved the expected amount between seasons or tests. I think frustration stems from the athlete because perhaps they have issues with the training plan and them not improving as much as they would wish. If this happens, how can there be overtraining? However, Coach Campbell will more frequently than not be willing to sit down and talk in an effort to improve the team as a whole. No coach is perfect, but I think Coach Campbell does the best with the resources at hand. Side note, if an athlete is not with family over Easter break, he will offer to host them at his house and treat them to a meal."
