"Coach Baltz took over this program from a Hall of Fame head coach. He is living off of that coach's legacy. He will not give feedback to players unless they seek him out, and most recently advised my daughter that he was annoyed to have to meet with her to give feedback.
From a knowledge point of view as a softball umpire he is lacking. He appeals calls to the wrong umpire repeatedly. He does not know the rules and allows his team to get bullied over them. This past weekend he allowed a misinterpretation of an illegal pitch, and he asked the plate umpire about an appeal at 1st base instead of discussing it with the field umpire. This is the norm for this coach who is out of his depth. He was eliminated in playoffs last year by making zero adjustments with his team and got no hit. The previous coach's players are all seniors now and after this year there will be a giant drop off. He has run off multiple players and at this time is hoping to go into next season with 1 Sr pitcher, a Jr pitcher who already wants to quit (discussed with the coach last year about leaving), and hoping incoming freshman will be good enough to help him. He has 6 pitchers on staff this season but due to graduation and running a pitcher off he is down to 2 and hoping he does not lose another.
After the senior game last year, with the players that took him in his 1st year to a world series appearance, he was upset they did not win the game so he refused to talk about the seniors as is tradition in front of the parents to send them off.
My daughter played High School ball at the 6A level in TX and played against and with many players you see on TV playing at SEC schools. This includes facing Melissa High School (the #1 High School softball program in the nation). She played A level select and played for organizations like Glory in some of the biggest tournaments in the country. This coach did not see her play. The 1st time he decided to see her play was her freshman year during the fall scrimmage. They played 2 10inning games. He told her not to expect to play as a freshman. Then in the 20th inning without warming her up he told her to go in to pitch. The umpires had not seen a lefty pitcher all day as she was the only one for either team. She struggled to find the strike zone - He did not go out to try to settle her down - he let her meltdown in front of everyone, but she held it together as best she could and got through the outing. He has held that against her ever since then. At the end of the season having pitched to the team all year to get them ready he told her to come back this year ready to go. So, she went home for the summer... She dropped 20lbs... she pitched every chance she got against anyone... 16yr olds to 25 yrs olds... she came back to show she was ready. Fall scrimmage came... he did not pitch her... and then told her it was her fault and body shamed her.
This coach is destined to fail. He does not lead young women and instead he bullies them. Moravian softball is successful... very successful, but that was the legacy of the previous coach."
"My son is only a first year student, but from the personal letters he received from this coach in High School, to the up front communication he received throughout the entire process, I highly recommend this program and coach. "
"He truly does not know the game from a coaching standpoint, this team has some great players but constantly struggles. He is the factor that is preventing his team from being great. Once he leaves this team will flourish but until then mediocrity will remain constant"
"This coach is inept. Only cares about his starters, and is even abusive towards them. Refused to develop any other players. Pits the team against each other. The golden starters vs. everyone else. He seems to take great joy in killing the spirit of his players."
"Plays same ineffectual players, almost unlimited time. No matter how petulant, entitled, and poor their attitudes are. Get a second yellow for dissent, no problem, you'll start your next available game. Hack down an opponent because you're not fit enough or out of position and not tactically aware for a Red, no problem. Most of these players seem to come from Coaching staffs' travel programs. Seems to be happy with their 1-5-1 season last year as he's playing those same starters again almost exclusively. Had the nerve to carry a roster of over forty players last year, but played only about fifteen to sixteen with any regularity. Coaches will tell you that as long as you do well in practice you'll see increased playing time. Get praise from them for how well you're doing in practice, while watching starters fool around and half-ass practice, playing time doesn't change. As long as you come from the Coaches travel teams or your Dad's good friends with one of the Coaches you'll be fine."
"Coach Wilkinson is a team first coach who like to like to keep practices very organized and fun to ensure players stayed engaged. He cares a lot of his players well being as well as their academics and always make himself accessible if a player needs anything. "
"Coach Wilk is a great man to get to play for and know as a person. Players and staff can always count on him and he truly gives his all to his team. "
"Coach pape is one of the best lacrosse coaches ive ever had, she pushes you to be the best player you can be, she makes sure you are doing okay academically and mentally. truly the best coach ever"
"Kevin Edwards is an extremely knowledgeable coach with an excellent history at college. Before eventually becoming a coach, he also played golf for Moravian. On the team, you get access to some of the best courses in the area such as Saucon Valley Country Club and Woodstone Country Club, where Coach Edwards is the PGA Director.

Coach was a big player of favorites, especially ones he recruited from his own club. Therefore, instruction and growth have to be done on your own."
"Coach is a great example if a coach who cares and works for the players. I've need help several time in my Career at Moravian and he's been a great mentor for me. He knows the defensive side of the ball incredibly well and was the reason we were better as a unit last year."
