"I have been a player for Coach Gage for two years now at the Mount and me and whole staff love him. I have been reading these comments and they are all probably from Parents who have soft kids and werent good enough to play at the D1 level. "
"The Mount has big shoes to fill! Thank you coach for representing our campus on such a national stage! And thank you for helping all us non-bowlers at the Mount learn about the sport to understand what is going on! LOL"
"Maybe it’s different now, but I regret my time there. Learned more about life than about bowling. I wish I went somewhere that I was valued more. It’s not always sunshine and rainbows that the parents and fans see from social media. "
"Far and away the best team at the Mount! I really enjoy following along on the livestreams :) it’s been a pleasure to watch. Keep it up ladies and coach!"
"I’m confused how he still has a job after looking at his player retention rate. At least 2 non-graduating players have left his team every year since the start of his program. That alone should say enough. He’s ruined the sport for so many. Sells these athletes the world on their visits and show his true colors the first month of school. I pity these girls and hope future recruits can see through his act before it’s too late."
"Only go here if you never want to throw a ball again. Will ruin your game and interest in bowling. It’s a great school, just not someone I want to have my daughter around. "
"Keeps things direct and honest. Appreciate how structured practices were compared to other schools we looked at. Keeps in touch with alumni. Passionate about their work and always has team competitively ready to go."
"Does not care about players. Will continually lie to player’s and parents faces to get you to not transfer. Will play the people that donate the most money rather than the best players. Overcomplicates everything about bowling and will ruin your game if you don’t bowl the exact way he wants. Overall, a liar, manipulator, and bully. Do not send your howler to Mount St. Mary’s. "
"Terrible leader. Highlights the team’s GPA and fails to mention who earns the grades. Claims to not know most players by name. Playing time determined by his ego not stats/talent. "
"Anyone that gives this man a negative rating doesn’t understand Coach Gravante or what he’s been through. If you’re not a starter then work hard enough to become one. Coach Gravante sticks his neck out for each player in his program and builds a culture of men that is driven towards success in life first and winning in lacrosse second. It’s a shame they just let him go. Another comment says I’m surprised he was there as long as he was. I am too because the number of times he put his job on the line for a player to stay in school and get his act together after getting in trouble is astonishing. Put some respect on this man’s name. He’s a great man and a great mentor."
"Gage should not be coaching nor called a coach. He has his favorites that can do no wrong but they still dislike him. He hides behind his office door, does not speak directly to players but will humiliate them in front of a crowd, and is just a very bad person who cannot look you in the eye when he decides he has time for you. His post-game yelling fits, placing blame on specific players for losing games, and even blaming the lack of enthusiasm from the bench for losses are all examples of his actions, which also include mental abuse, punishing players by making them run until they vomit then claiming it’s building character, and name-calling that I was personally subjected to in one of the reviews above regarding the Florida trip that was a nightmare. This person has no business being a coach of a little league team, never mind a college baseball team. Ask the 11 players who have quit since September 2022. No they were not cut, they quit because of him. He overuses players and stresses routines that have resulted in many serious injuries. Stay far away from this coach."
"Very disappointed with the experience playing for Coach G. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. Unfortunately I left some friends behind and it is a good school. But I couldn’t play another year for him. "
"Very petty, negative and disorganized. It’s very surprising he’s still there. Not a mentor AT ALL or someone who really cares about his players. Very much ruined what should have been a dream come true for me. A great university, but he really is a bad coach that somehow gets a pass from leadership. He puts his players in two buckets, and if you’re not in the starters bucket, you never get a chance to get to it. You’re second class at that point. "
"Always works to get a good schedule for a smaller school. Would pick the phone up and call any alumni to help a player figure out a career direction. He makes men out of his players. "
"I am not sure what coach the 5 rating worked with, maybe coach gage did the rating himself. This coach is the worst coach I have ever played for in my career. We play competitive baseball in our area. He treats player terrible, unless your his pet player. His practices are unorganized and unplanned. You are there to go to school first, but because he has no plan or schedule you never know from day to day. . Read the other reviews! They are the accurate. You will regret attending this school for baseball. "
"Coach Gage was extremely beneficial in helping me with my career at Stevenson. He is very career focused and pushed us academically. On the field we worked hard. The coaching staff always spent extra time with our team in the cage or at the field helping us develop. I still talk with Coach Gage every month about things in life."
"Coach Gage has violated NCAA rules a number of times. From practicing and playing to many days in a row. To not providing meals of any kind on home or away games. I am done here and would not recommend any one plays for this coach. "
"Another parent told me about this site. I wish there had known about it prior to my son coming to this school. My son has played baseball since he was 5 and has loved the game. This week he told me he no longer Likes the game of baseball. It time for a change here"
"I would not recommend anyone attend this school to play baseball. This coach lacks the intelligence to be an effective leader. He is disrespectful to the players and the game. The staff is disorganized with no game plan. The team went on a trip to a tournament in Florida pitchers didn't know when they were pitching or if they were pitching. One of the assistant coaches drove the van in an unsafe manager at high speed and hit a pole after one of the players told him he was going to hit it. The head coach called a player "faggot" because he had an ear ring this was done in front of the entire team and humiliated a kid. This is not a place I would encourage my son to attend. "
"Kevin is an awesome coach, he truly wants the best for his players. If you need help he’s always there, so make sure you ask. He is a busy man, so you must speak up if you want something or have a concern. He takes the team on some pretty cool trips, his coaching style is a little hands off, but definitely willing to help and be more hands on, all you have to do is ask. He loves to know everyone personally outside of golf. The team dynamic is strong, fun and we spend a lot of time together. "
"He is extremely positive, caring and knowledgable. He wants the best for you not only as an athlete but also as a student and person. He is also extremely motivational and does everything he can to help you reach your goals. "
"One of the most understanding, helpful, motivating, and genuine coaches I have ever had in sports over the years. He really helps you to stay motivated and set goals and then achieve those goals. He is all about helping us strive to be our best and to love what we do. "
"One big con. Pouts more than a toddler. A team divider. Control freak. Difficult to get along with. Not truthful. Can't handle stress. Should not be coaching!"
"Mount St. Mary's women's lacrosse is extremely lucky and privileged to be coached by a women who teaches how to be successful both on and off the field, truly cares for each and every one of her players and puts them first as people and second as athletes. If you are lucky enough to receive an offer from Lo I suggest you jump at the opportunity "
"She is a very nice person who could make for an awesome friend....but a friend is not what I am looking for out of my coach when playing at they highest level of college softball. Struggled with making game time decision that many times cost us games, playoffs and even some players well being (preventable injures). She most likely was a great DIII coach but is having a hard time hanging with the big dogs at the higher level."
