"Reached out to Coach Kidane to learn about summer training. Talked through current team’s strengths and strategies to improve. Has a link on all emails to easily book virtual meetings with him. Flexible around evaluating talent level of prospect athletes. Clearly believes in the team."
"Mike is probably the WORST coach you could ever have. He is so egotistical and IGNORES half the team that he’s recruited about 30 girls per season, screams at starters and breaks down your love of volleyball. Do not come here if you value volleyball whatsoever or want your love of the game to end. He truly makes you hate volleyball and if you try standing up for yourself he just ignores you benches you for life and talks s**t about you to other teammates and coaches. "
"If you like being screamed at and having your confidence destroyed, go play for Coach Sopocy. You will have 3-4 practices a day during preseason on top of lifts, and during regular season could still have 2 a days with lifts. If you're not one of his starting 7 you will rarely get a chance to play even though he will promise you left and right that you will get in. If you make one mistake you will be pulled and not given another chance. He screams at his starters and ignores the others. He knows volleyball very well but is an egomaniac. Try to tell him this and he will talk poorly about you to other athletes and coaches. There is 30+ girls on the team and he does not know how to create a team culture. "
"He cares a lot about players, but often struggles to create a safe environment where players can get better. His coaching staff is really knowledgeable and effective, though he can be difficult to deal with during rough patches. He is a wonderful person to talk to off the field."
"Coach Rosenau is an extremely understanding coach who puts his athletes’ mental health and academics before their performances on the race course. His office is almost always open to talk to him about anything. If you are overwhelmed with school work or life in general he will allow you to take some time away and train on your own until you are caught up and doing better mentally."
"I went to visit mid pandemic so there were a lot of things I wasn’t allowed to do based on covid protocols. The coaching staff did everything in their power to still make it a fun experience for me. I got to meet one team member, a faculty member (who became my advisor), an admissions officer and the athletic director. Coaches put a lot of time and effort into recruiting and rely on the team to help make new recruits feel welcome when coming for visits (now that they’re allowed lol)."
"Slightly older building for the main gym but the floor was completely renovated with the Chicago skyline last year. It’s inner city so there isn’t much room to expand out, but the facilities are nice and everything is in close proximity (super nice when you’re tired from practice)."
