"Everyday leadership. Develops clear individual, attainable goals. Prepares student athletes for highest pressure situations on course. Readies team for life beyond college. Loves his team."
"If you love your daughter, please do not send them to NIU for women's tennis. He lacks the basic knowledge of tennis and acts like a child. He has consistently said he would rather coach men instead of women. Eric plays favorites and is misogynistic. All the girls are afraid of him and will play with high fevers and injuries to the point that they can't walk. He cannot produce a winning record in his conference.
Eric is a horrible coach, leader, and person. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO NIU for women's tennis!!! Great school, horrible tennis coach. You've been warned."
"Sam has been an incredible coach the and made my time as a college gymnast so enjoyable. Everyday he makes the gym a fun place to be. He cares about our wellbeing and he always puts school first."
"Best coach I have ever had. Treats me like a student before an athlete, listens to my concerns, understands how important school is, makes gymnastics fun again, helped me fall in love with the sport all over again."
"I played for Rod Carey. Right when Rod took over at NIU, the vibe of the team slowly declined from there. Rod lies to walk-ons about scholarships and absolutely NO ONE on the team wants to play for him. He had his favorite 5 players, then he treats other players/GAs/coaches like shit. He's a liar and I hope he is on his way out. "
"Could work on his people skills and just talking to us like we are college athletes. He is a good coach he just needs to be more tough when it comes to coaching and actually getting mad at girls when something doesn't go well."
"He lacks communication skills and his coaching techniques aren't the greatest. He doesn't yell much during games (which can be a good or a bad thing). He is really trying to turn the program around, just difficult to implement major changes when athletes are used to their old ways."
"Coach Kunigonis is well-knowledgeable when it comes to the game of baseball, however, he can struggle to relate to his players and can occasionally come off as a little standoffish and selfish. With that being said, I would still play for him any day of the week. He knows how to push his players to their physical limits and maximize their potential."
"Coach Carey was a pretty great coach overall. I did not have much interaction with him, but when we did, it was mainly positive, but now always. With that being said, I am aware that we will not always have positive interactions with everyone in our lives. That is okay! Life goes on."
