"-Was not fair
-Hyper focused on a select 2-3 swimmers
-I never felt comfortable around him
-Always said school was important, but I was punished if I missed a practice because of my class schedule
-I don’t feel as though he made it feel like an inviting team culture "
"Unfortunately he was very condescending and rude to me during my time on SCSU swim and dive. Certainly has an old school mentality and does not understand men’s mental health. Humiliated me at our first meet of the 2022-2023 season. He is not a dive coach and yet he still thinks he understands the sport of diving. At the first meet of 2022 he did not watch my warm ups before the competition, I was struggling with one of the dives on my list. Sadly I was not able to complete the dove during the competition. Immediately after the dive was failed he came over to me and screamed in my face “what are you doing?!!” My competitors, the spectators, and teammates all agreed it was a nasty move. Wish I knew earlier that athletes are able to sue coaches for humiliation. "
"Terrible terrible coach. Made playing collegiate softball the worst decision of my life. Clearly loves his favorites and if you aren’t one then good luck ever hearing one word from him. Whether it’s small talk, or any type of criticism you will basically be non existent. Extremely disorganized with awful, unreliable, scheduling and you cant trust a word that comes out of his mouth. Made the team extremely separated with awful cliques. "
"This guy barely spends any time with the team. His assistant Zach basically runs things and is a better coach all around. However, Sean decides lineups, etc. there is little to no squad mobility. However, there is one case where squad mobility is evident. He brought someone with 13 of his chromosomes as a mid-year transfer and dropped him right into the starting eleven, leaving out much better players. Sean yells at players (even the nicest people) for messing up. This creates more mistakes all around. Players get shamed for Injuries, which leads to more injuries due to people playing with knocks. Often made references to a driving incident involving a player and teases him for it. Not the best experience but if you're strong enough to deal with everything it is manageable.

"Amazing Coach and mentor!!! He isn't just a coach but a father figure, counselor, and teacher. He makes his athletes his top priority and wants them to be better people not just better athletes. He was the reason I attended St Cloud and glad I did!"
"He is young but Sam is a great coach, very knowledgable and passionate about the sport of track and field. Recently, the St. Cloud State Men's track and field team has been cut from our institution because of a financial deficit. Sam has been an amazing support system for the males undergoing this process and has helped every one of them to find success in their future. It has been a very eye opening experience that really showcases him as a person and how much he cares for the athletes!"
"Jeff knows and makes sure you understand that you are a student before an athlete. If you are not doing well in the class room you will not be able to practice until you get everything together. We have grade cards to get filled every couple of weeks so no student has the excuse of "I don't know what my grade is." Jeff is very fair and an outstanding coach. He really pushes to make relationships with each and every swimmer and diver on the team."
"Coach Underwood is dedicated to St. Cloud State and the program. He is upfront during the recruiting process and about his expectations. Coach U is very passionate about his players and their success on and off the field"
"Steve recruited me and told my parents that he takes care of his wrestlers when they are away from home. Then when he was forced to make roster cuts he had his assistant coach tell us that we were cut from the team. I haven’t heard a single word from Steve since that day (unless it was an email asking for donations from alumni). Steve will treat you like family if you have a chance to win a national title… but will toss you to the side if you aren’t the best."
