"In my experience, Marcal Lazenby’s leadership created an environment where communication, consistency, and trust were major concerns. Expectations were not always clearly communicated, and important decisions appeared to be made without giving the people affected a meaningful opportunity to provide context or respond. As the leader of the athletic department, I expected stronger support, clearer processes, and a greater willingness to address problems directly before they escalated. Instead, I often felt that concerns were handled reactively and that protecting himself took priority over understanding the full situation. College athletics requires accountability, but accountability should apply to leadership as well as coaches and athletes. Leaders should communicate expectations clearly, investigate concerns fairly, document issues consistently, and treat employees with professionalism throughout difficult situations. Based on my experience, those standards were not consistently met. I would encourage anyone considering working within the department to ask detailed questions about communication, evaluation procedures, administrative support, and how disputes or complaints are handled."

"**Proceed With Caution** Based on my experience, Saint Leo Athletics has serious leadership culture issues. Under Marcal Lazenby, the department felt highly image-conscious and politically driven. Public appearances and department optics seemed to matter more than consistent support, clear communication, and fair treatment. In my experience, decisions could feel personal and reactive rather than principled or professionally handled. This is especially concerning in a college athletics environment, where student-athletes and coaches need stability, trust, and leadership that puts programs first. I would caution recruits, families, and coaching candidates to look beyond the surface and ask direct questions about department culture, staff stability, internal communication, and how conflict is handled. There are good athletes and people at Saint Leo. But based on my experience, the leadership culture is a major concern. "

"Very passively disrespectful to you if you were not one of her best players. She cared more about having friends than making us betters players. That affects the entire dynamic of the team. We are there to become better players, not feel like we are around a high school clique run by the coach. "

"Volleyball Coach Abby Moser-Keim and her husband and brother are monopolizing this school. She just got hired this February and recruited three girls but claims she didn’t have a say and was “stuck” with the girls from other coach. Funny thing is she had time, she had lots of time, many girls don’t get recruited till August (she recruited one in Aug) We had 2-3 on our club team that weren’t signed and that is 1 team out of 1500 teams in USA that she could choose from. She’s just wants a “out” on why they loss this season. But the funny thing is the she played her 1 out of 3 recruits non stop and she was horrible “shanking balls non stop” and at one point she put all four OH in front of her on serve recieve( hide her in back corner) when “her position” is suppose to be the “best serve recieve player” on the court the “Libero!” Now the game is 5 aganist 6!! This player can do no wrong and when she does she gets to more chances and opportunities than those who only make less mistakes!! After all her errors she still wear the jersey— confusing?? But guess who this one player/transfer/new recruit is, her little sister and she never told anyone this was her sister. She hid it from her players knowing it was wrong but she and the AD should know this would cause issues and attention. So you, Coach Abby choose to do this your first year at the new job, then you need to accept the criticism! You choose a job that you are in the public eye- You need to accept criticism from all- players, coaches, parents, and fans!! You need tougher skin it’s part of the job! .She hasn’t coached in 5+ years and it shows. Last time she coached she was an “assistant” and wow has the game of volleyball changed and she has no clue and it shows as she sits there and has her “assistant” doing all the coaching during the games. You don’t know who the head coach is when your watching. The girls have regressed from the beginning of the year. This proves she hasn’t coached or developed the girls!! Our record shows it. She is crude, rude, and immature. She could of been honest from the start and tell everyone about your sister, your plans for the team/player, and give the new recruits or old, especially all those who “play your sisters position” a chance to find a new home. This would of opened your rooster, budget, and not cause a bad moral Amongst the team, parents, program etc. it just shows her immaturity and not fit for this position of leadership. I believe hiring her was a mistake and not a good direction for this school, program, and athletics. "

"I had the worst experience with Ged. He does not care about his players unless you happen to be a favorite. He only cares about speed and strength (bonus if you are international). So, if you don't stand out with your speed and strength, you'll never see the field. Even if you play great in practice. When I played for him, I was an outside mid, so I was technical, small and quick but he told me "I don't pay attention to technical." His practices did not prepare us for game time, which led to a losing season. We had the talent, but he only played his favorites, even if they were injured and couldn't play at their 100%. He truly doesn't care about his players and it shows with the team culture. I had never seen a team so divided because of a coach. "
