"If you would like a bipolar coach that can't write a sensible line up she is your gal. She is 2 faced kiss your a*s not to leave the team and then benches you the games after. Does not share the lineup until 20 minutes before the game to stay "locked in". Will destroy your sleep schedule for 5:10 arrival for practice at 6am when you had a late class the night before and then push being a "student athlete". Makes her problems about you during practice but then does not allow you to discuss your problems at practice. Wants to know all about your family drama and love life, too much for an adult to want to request. She does not know the game, given we have lost most games due to her not knowing stuff. She is to involved in pleasing everyone and worried where head will sit at night. Scared that if she doesn't give playing time to the people that families donate money she won't get the fundraiser money. "
"The school should not allow this man to do what he does. Same speech every year. Offers young men spots on team and then you find out on arrival to college that it’s a tryout.
Shame on you SUNY BROCKPORT for allowing poor recruiting practices. "
"STAY AWAY!! Same experience as previous reviewers! This man is about as unethical as they come & I really don't know how he sleeps at night knowing how he screws with people's lives! Mr. Lapietra does not tell you when he recruits that you aren't guaranteed a spot on the roster, that when you get to preseason, it's a tryout. He doesn't give a rat's a*s about how being unexpectedly cut after being intentionally misled would affect someone. For most kids, this is the first time being away from home & this jerk couldn't care less!!"
"Coach Archambeau truly reignited my love and passion for the game and belief in having a strong culture, program, and promising future for the team. She's one of the most passionate, caring, intense people I've ever met and I cannot express the amount of gratitude I have towards her. She believes in her players and sees them as a whole person, while making sure you're actually advancing in your degree and not just cruising by. Her meetings address and support all of our issues, highs, and lows, and she will help create plans to support players when necessary. (For example, I applied to a program and was denied in my first application. Shocked, I went to her office in tears, embarrassed and disappointed. She heard me out, supported me and validated my feelings, and immediately helped me create a plan to re-apply in the next round. When application time came back around, I was accepted and have never felt more proud or thankful to have someone in my corner believing in my potential when I was doubting myself.) She has high standards and can have an intense delivery in practice, but it's only because she knows what you can do as a player and sometimes we as athletes need the extra push of someone else getting us through something that we doubted ourselves to complete. Every team has drama, and she addresses and moves on from the issues in ways that solves them and continues to move us forward. She won't let it simmer or push it to the side, letting it linger and influence the team while she turns a blind eye. That's a recipe for disaster if a coach just pretends to not have issues. Balancing a large roster of athletes comes with MANY different sides, and she manages to take all sides to hold each person accountable. It doesn't feel good to be told things you don't want to hear, but she has the respect for each player to tell us what we need to hear (never in a condescending tone, just as athletes it's hard for us to hear criticism even though we live for feedback). I cannot recommend her any higher for anyone who's looking for a coach who truly believes, pushes, and loves them. She cares about you more than just your skills and GPA and wants to know about your personal life to be a supporter for those who want that relationship. She's also funny!!! I owe a lot of my confidence, success, and realizations that you can be "intense" AND caring as a leader, to her. An incredible ride or die human who puts EVERYTHING into coaching and her players as people and their opportunities. Thank you, Coach."
