"Not understanding, extremely hypocritical. Says school comes first but if you ever are even a minute late because you have to meet with a professor she punishes you. Will push you during injury until you physically can’t do anything. Seems great when you first meet her then does a 180."
"Do not go anywhere near this Coach. Horrible with parents and players alike, does not have any accountability for himself or his actions. Refuses to utilize other coaches skills. This man is detrimental to the game of lacrosse and anyone he is around. "
"To start with the good: The coach absolutely knows his stuff, he is fair about getting the players who deserve it playing time, and everyone now and then he has his good moments as a coach
However, he abuses his position as a head coach and feels as if he has to be incontrol of everything, he struggles with recruiting and bringing in a good number of freshman, he is degrading to his players and almost NEVER gives them honest compliments without it being backhanded in some way shape of form, and he absolutely plays favorites in terms of who he likes and how he treats them.
I quit this team because I didn’t feel wanted or valued and my time spent playing underneath Skvarch as a coach has been awful. I resented showing up to practices, I felt scared to talk to him individually, and I felt that every mistake I made was amplified.
25+ quitters and transfers in the last 4 years speaks for itself.
He needs a gut check and I hope he can learn to treat his players better."
"His intentions might be good but the result is bad. In 10 years he hasn't had a winning season yet he continues to blame the players instead of looking at himself and his methods. Most of the players hate playing for him and many have quit as a result. There are a bunch of players who say they don't even like playing lacrosse anymore because of the way he treats them. He regularly exceeds the number of practice hours the NCAA allows; wearing down his players and making it that much harder for them to be student athletes. His reputation as a tyrant has gotten around the league which is scaring off potential recruits. Team culture is toxic and it spills over to the play on the field. If it hasn't worked for 10 seasons, there's no reason to believe it will in the 11th. Time for a change "
"These boys just want to be led by someone who knows how to foster respect and inspire hard work. This coach is the definition of bad leadership. It's painful to watch. If your college-bound son has aspirations of enjoying his experience as a student-athlete, run to another school. Any school."
"This coach weaponizes his position to manipulate, denigrate, and control his players. This team should be offered crisis counseling for what they endure under this coach.
He has failed to promote a culture of respect, inclusivity, or sportsmanship, resulting in team members feeling alienated, unsupported, and questioning their love of the game. He talks negatively about players to other players and undermines any shred of team building. His legacy can be summed up as: poor performance, low morale, and an overall lack of motivation among the players.
There have been multiple incidents of disrespectful behavior towards players and countless disparaging remarks. How do you motivate players by making them feel worthless? This behavior is unacceptable and goes against the values that Walsh - or any men's lacrosse program - holds dear.
This program has a decade long trail of consistent losses and de-commits, led by one coach. How does he still have a job?"
"Simply an awful coach and leader for the young men on this team. I really hope the President and AD care enough to make a change. Just ask the kids that have left the program why? Please conduct exit interviews with the Senior class and maybe parents and you will find out what you need.
Time for change is now the boys deserve better!
"
"This review is about how he treats his players….like crap. Build them up into good young men but please don’t break them down into a shell of themselves. You don’t game the right to strip the love of the game from them. "
"Don’t send your son to Walsh. Worst HC ever.
Mentally abusive to his players and plays favorites. Does not communicate with players unless they make a mistake. Does not understand how to motivate his players. 10 years if never having a winning record or winning the conference. The smart players leave the real year one. I really hope the President and AD make a change the boys deserve it. #SWORDSDOWN"
"Outstanding knowledge of the game. Has a wall between his intentions with his knowledge and his delivery. Would be a really good analytics/ assistant coach because he knows his Xs and Os, but he definitely cannot lead a team. The head coach position is abused from time to time. I’m quite greatful I’ve graduated and don’t have to deal with him anymore."
"Worst Coach I’ve ever played for. I am baffled he is still coaching lacrosse. Awful person on and off field. He cannot retain assistant coaches, players, and personal relationships for very obvious reasons. He does not show any respect or appreciation for his players or peers. Took his moment to speak on my senior class at our banquet and did nothing but degrade and rip on us for the four years we gave him. I started every game over four years and made the most that I could, it was very difficult to watch him ruin the love of the sport for myself and all of my teammates. The entire team dreaded going to practice and dreaded dealing with him. He made the Covid season absolutely terrible. Masks under helmets, 6am nasal testing, and the most ridiculous distancing rules. His 10 years of coaching at Walsh University have been nothing but a disgrace to the game and The University. The teams culture was/is in shambles. He disrespected athletic training staff on a regular basis. Many players/assistant coaches quit and transferred and the trend continues, it is very unfortunate as the program has so much potential. He is unable to receive any criticism or self reflect. He will continue to push his broken system expecting a different result. Insanity. If you are considering playing for or hiring this individual, my greatest advice would be to definitely reconsider. "
