"Extremely immature, lacks honesty, and unprofessional. Spoke negatively about our Head Coach to other coaches, her family, and people in the community. Consistently cried to us as players about how much time with family she missed and how she wanted to go home but yet all of us were away from our families in different states. We are young adults still learning but were having to boost her up to want to stay and coach for the remainder of each season she was here. She will victimize herself to move up in the basketball industry and wants people to feel sorry for her to gain support. We wanted her to be our coach and we thought she actually cared but unfortunately she was more of a glorified secretary that enjoyed male attention more than coaching us. If you most coaches when they switch jobs, they thank their previous school, head coach, etc. Take notice, she never thanks anyone that helped her move up, ATHLETES PAY ATTENTION, even we know don't burn bridges as we work in an industry. She never thanked any of her seniors, players or said she would miss us, didn't thank the head coach or administration. That should tell you enough about her to understand her goal as a coach. "

"A sellout is someone who compromises their personal values, integrity, or beliefs in exchange for personal gain, often financial. They abandon their principles or betray their cause for money, fame, or other advantages. To provide some additional context, someone who is not honest prioritizes their own agenda or interests over providing genuine transparency. The name of the coach being rated is Jillian Miller and we just described who she really is. We are loyal to our coaches but loyalty is a two way street. If you are going to speak negatively about our team and program to other people they should know the truth about you. She would sell her soul to anyone that shows interest or tells her they will move her up to the Division 1 Level. Poor Interactions with Players - Consistently would treat players differently, not equally accountable. Would yell at you to your face and then go hug another player right after. Liar - Would consistently speak to us about being honest and a good person but then would speak negatively about other coaches or who to stay away from, then you would see her interact with those coaches in person or on social media. (ie. Pineapples Coach Miller?) Will consistently cry out wrong doing or play the victim role but somehow put herself back in a victim situation. Knowledge - Does not have any of her own basketball knowledge! We are anxious to see all the information she stole from our Head Coach and how their team plays this season. "

"This information is for both coaches at Thomas More, Brian Neal and Jillian Miller. As a parent, I believe honesty goes an extremely long way. I am not going to provide too much information but when a player is recruited to your University and you mention as the Head Coach your care for the players and the positive faith based culture you have established for 25+ years, you expect that to be the case. Relationships amongst student-athletes happen but not in a manner that is disruptive to the overall culture that you claimed to establish. Then when that information is brought to your attention, you threaten that individual and I quote, "if you speak with other schools, you will be cut". Two days later Brian Neal resigned and took a position at another University. Now you are willing to cut a player because they want a better situation but you are doing the exact same thing. PARENTS BEWARE, this coach was once a Division I coach, so he knows the tricks of the trade but be sure to ask him on your recruiting visits about how he handles team culture. Small world, we had a playing friend who mentioned she would be attending Ave Maria University, was recruited by the Director of Scouting and then Jillion Miller from my understanding took the lead. The family communicated their pros and cons and the most important question was, how long do you plan to remain at the school. Once again, I quote, "We have a lot of unfinished business with this senior class, I am looking forward to winning a championship". The student-athletes mother than explains to me that her daughter had been trying to communicate with Coach Miller since May and never received a response, not even a courtesy to mention she had taken another position. Now we fully understand coaches need to do what's best for them but don't sell lies if you are actively looking to move places. Both of our daughters are now attending a school for a coach who is no longer working within that University but luckily we choose for the entire school and not their specific sport. "

"It says, Discuss the good, the bad, and the ugly. As a former player for Coach Miller, Coach Moorehead, Coach Hawkins Coach McBride and Coach Belli at Ave Maria University over three seasons so I will discuss that very thing; the good, bad, and ugly about Jillian or Miller as we called her. She is what many would describe as a chameleon, Coach Moorehead was a low-key dictator but did a decent job with his staff and Coach Hawkins was generally knowledgable about basketball but ALWAYS lost and disorganized. Coach Miller being the female coach is one that we would normally gravitate to but she is one who can adapt and adjust to her surroundings to fit to what she needs to survive. In my three years as a player the number of times I can count that she fit to her environment instead of being genuine and honest would be every single day. Miller consistently discussed with us the importance of being a good person, honest, and true to yourself. She would often tell us in our individual meetings how important it was to "seize the day" and be "where your feet are", how it was "by the grace of God" that our HC (Alex Moorehead) brought her to coach collegiately at Ave Maria. Let me just explain how looking back on it now we understand she only used every single one of us to attempt to advance her career. When "Miller" first recruited me she told me that the level of play (NAIA) did not matter and that our team is a family, she was adamant that she would remain through a recruiting cycle, even go as far as stating, "I am here as long as Coach Moorehead will have me", fast forward three years later and from what we know she made a decision without being offered a position to now be the coach at Thomas More. She decided that our family did not measure up to what she had not been offered. Imagine my feeling when you hear every day to be honest and upfront with those around you that my assistant coach, female assistant for that matter left the program. Let me also add that this individual DID NOT say goodbye to us, IGNORED OUR MESSAGES, and the relationships she claims she wants, she has NOT spoken a word about faith and becoming a mature young woman, like she spoke about while she was here. The hilarious part about this entire scenario is that Coach Miller was the LEAST KNOWLEDGABLE coach we had on staff. She never knew or drew a play my entire playing career there and was fortunate enough that her and Coach Moorehead were legitimately best friends. I remember when she ran our film session one time and she spoke 5-8 minutes after every single clip, so what was supposed to be a full game film review for an hour turned into 8-10 clips that took around 1.5 hours. Any time she was given the opportunity or chance to show her capability as a coach, she would argue with Coach Moorehead about it. She had the chance to coach our exhibition game this last year, we hear her accusing Coach Moorehead of planning to leave because why else would she allow her to coach a game. Let it be known that exhibition games DO NOT count and we play FGCU every year and their HC let's their assistant do the same thing for exhibition games.... must be a trend? WELL let me tell you one distinct feature you will see she will not argue about is how Coach Miller went from "lacking confidence" on the court with basketball to having no shame in showing off her confidence towards male coaches and showing off her bottom half. The dressing the part and presenting yourself in a respectful manner did not pertain to her as you will see from the tight short shorts and leggings she will consistently wear without covering up. If you think someone on these posts is lying, please just wait until students return for the Fall and if you all discuss her ability as a coach or her looks instead. You will see very quickly why she was selected as a coach for the Thomas More staff, please ask any of her former players if she knew what she was doing as a basketball coach, watch her demonstrate a drill and tell me that her new boss selected her for her coaching ability or was he interested in something else? I will leave this last event for you to make your judgement, our entire team is made up of players from all different states and backgrounds, Coach Miller rarely ever discussed with some of the better players on the team, she consistently would get onto them for sometimes absolutely nothing but she enjoyed players lower in the rotation, treated them better than anyone else even when they would make mistakes. Now if you can locate her from her time "playing" at John Carroll, her D3 school in Ohio, you will find out why, she RARELY ever stepped foot on the actual basketball court. She will tell you though that she played for a D1 coach and helped her team win a championship. Once again like I said fitting into the environment. The amount of connection, respect, loyalty, and care for us as players is 0. She got a coaching award this year and never once thanked any of us, she now thinks she is better than the players that made her career. She left us as fast as Kim Kardashian finds husbands. I wish Jillian Miller well because the way she left our program, my teammates, and program was BS for someone that claimed to loyalty and to care for us and people wonder why athletes jump in the portal. "Reviewing Craig Roberts is something many of his former players tried to do for years. We tried to tell the Athletics Department at Ball State about the mind games he played, the way he made his own players make feel worthless, the times he made players play through injuries. Despite these efforts, we were ignored because of his “winning records”. Records that came at the expense of girls that now live with thoughts in their heads that they were never good enough, and never would be. So, to finally get the chance to “review” Craig and not be silenced, you can see that many of his former players are not taking this opportunity lightly. I often look back on my college experience and wish it had been different. I wish I hadn’t lost the love of the sport of soccer, I wish my coach built me up as a player and person instead of taking that love from me. I wish I hadn’t watched my teammates endure the mental abuse that came from Craig Roberts. I can’t go back in time and change that. But if this review forum can prevent a player from going through that in their future, I will gladly share my experience and hope that the next girl doesn’t have the opportunity to be coached by Craig Roberts. "As much as it saddens me to waste any breath or time discussing Craig Roberts, I cannot stand idly by and allow his abuse to affect a single other young woman. Like many on this forum, I was sold on the dream of a MAC championship, DI scholarship, and Craig’s fictitious initial charm. Do not let an exciting official visit/first impression fool you, this guy is bad news and VERY good at hiding his true colors when need be. Aside from the fact he was controlling, degrading, and narcissistic, he was a genuinely bad soccer coach. We had no style of play and his “tactics” were to out-athleticism opponents. Practices were extremely unproductive - if a practice was 3 hours long, we spent about 2.5 of those hours standing around listening to him talk. Like some have already stated on this forum, we won games because he is a good recruiter and we got off on raw talent, not because he had any hand in developing us as players. The one thing that always resonated with me about Craig was his need for control. He would do small things to assert his dominance and make sure we all knew we were lesser than - he’d randomly ask math and geography questions that no one knew the answers to, and gloat about him knowing the answers and us not knowing …? When he was talking you could not move a muscle (fix your hair, take off your shin guard) or break eye contact for fear of being called out for not paying attention. When I decided to transfer, I was lucky enough to land at another DI program and learn that there are programs and coaches that run intense practice sessions, develop players, and establish great culture. A team that is ran by Craig Roberts will NEVER be one of those programs. If it wasn’t already obvious, I would absolutely NOT recommend playing for Coach Roberts, however, if you want to regress as a player and enjoy mind games, Craig is your guy! "

I tore my acl and immediately asked the trainer “she’s good to go right?” We barely got fed on away trips, we would go hours without food. "I would definitely correlate me hating soccer for years after graduating based on my experience with him as a coach. It’s shocking to this day that he was able to attain any coaching position with women after ball state when the AD and department had knowledge of his abusive behavior. Poor as poor can be, and allowing him to continue in his manic and manipulative behavior. I will never forget him on multiple occasions taking injuries into his own hands and pressuring players to continue practicing and playing without AT or doctor approval. My favorite is when he told players that concussions were the new hot topic and we don’t actually know anything about them or their effects, which is probably why we had players medically DQ for concussions and numerous players got them over the course of my four years with them. If you’re on scholarship, essentially be prepared to have that held against you or be forced to transfer so he can reclaim that money. I’ve known him to go as far as to pressure players to no longer communicate or live with players he’s trying to push out. I highly recommend him never attaining any position with girls or women. He doesn’t develop them. He leaves them with pain, confusion, and anxiety. If you weren’t affected by his abuse, it’s not a stretch to say you have heard or witnessed his actions against other people. Protect yourself and anyone else from being exposed to him and his “coaching.”"

"I never thought I’d write a review about Coach Roberts. I had an awful experience. But after receiving a text message today from him asking to write him a positive review, I thought this was a little strange. I decided to browse the internet to see what this could be about and shock of shocks he’s on administrative leave. Whilst I couldn’t see what this was about, I can 100% guarantee it’s abuse to players, staff and other school staff. I will never recommend this man to anyone. I would go as far as saying he is pure evil. And the players like me he bullied he now wants us to help him out? No thank you "

"If ever there was a coach to confuse you about soccer, Craig is the perfect coach. I’m very lucky to have been coached by National Team coaches but to this day I still don’t know what Craig’s tactics were. We just went out there and played ourselves and that’s what got us wins. There was never any consistent coaching, it was always very ad-hoc, I was a Forward and spent the majority of sessions stood around. Proper sessions I’ve experienced since were all about repetition in my position. After reading some of the comments, people have clearly had some awful, awful experiences with him, and I can see what they mean. Whilst I fortunately never got the brunt of it some other players dealt with some horrific abuse from him. He used to tell some players that other players were awful, but yet he recruited them? Makes no sense. I was very relieved to leave but I often do wonder what many other girls he recruits are going to endure "

"After three years with Craig as my coach I would say the word to describe my overall experience was misleading. I committed to Ball State as a Junior in high school and was excited to continue my soccer career as a D1 Athlete at ball state. My expectations were high as I walked through the gates of ball state and I was disappointed almost right away. I was promised so many things and yet what I experienced 99.9% of the time was head games. The head games took place from the start of my career with Craig until the very end when he left the university. I saw many of my teammates that I would consider family put into horrible mental situations that no one should go through while playing a sport they so called loved. I roomed with many other players and our afternoons and evening conversations were filled with nothing but discussions of what was going on on the field and how none of it made sense. Specific experiences that took place that impacted me during my time at ball state included when he would pit two players against each other during practice rather than having them work together… also another experience I recall is when myself and two other players were told we were the reason we lost the even though we spent the majority of the game on the bench cheering for our teammates. Overall, I would like to say that I wish no one else has this experience with Craig but weirdly as an adult now I want to thank him for making me realize that I can work for anyone because I will never have a worse coach or leader as him. Most of all I hope that my teammates that were impacted by his treatment will someday be able to heal because at the end of the day they are so much bigger, better and stronger than he is. "

"As a women’s collegiate head coach, Craig Roberts held an extreme position of power during a time of maturation for girls as they aged from eighteen into their twenties. Parents entrusted their daughters to Craig, believing he could mentor and mold their daughters correctly as they became young adults. He was fully aware of the significant and influential role he held, yet he completely abused it. He was incapable and unfit, and Ball State University let him reign for too long. Craig Roberts cultivated an unsafe and toxic environment that bred insecure, anxious, and panicked women. The examples of his mental and emotional abuse are clear—as you can reference the multiple testimonies from other women on this forum. Craig Roberts constantly dismissed me and mislead me, made me feel worthless. So, it is no surprise I left Ball State with a heightened awareness of my inadequacies that carried affect my personal and professional life. Under his care, my adoration for soccer progressively became demented and the passion turned into misery. He completely took advantage for our love for soccer: he knew that our only goal was to perform in games, and that we would go to any length to achieve that. Therefore, he exploited this as a bargaining chip to act however he wanted—completely inappropriate. For four years, he was rude, deceitful, hypocritical and an overall fraudulent leader. "
