"Dawn stearns is by far the worst coach I could’ve ever played for. She ruined not only my love for the game but so many other players I met during my time with her. She chooses her favorite players freshman year and then no matter what those are her go to. She only sees her starting 9 players and will pay you no attention if you don’t end up being one of them. She mentally abuses players and makes them feel like they are worthless and not talented enough. No matter how much you improve she won’t pay any attention to you. Her field is not formed by who is the most skilled, it’s formed by who she likes the best. If you have any other choice to play for go with them. DO NOT PLAY FOR DAWN STEARNS. She’s told people they are an embarrassment to her team, they don’t deserve to play, and she will treat you like her personal money slave for “fundraising”. She’s made players drive over 2 hours over their summer break to come work her fundraising events for the “team” and she tried to make other players quit playing their summer seasons to come work for her. When asked to provide a spreadsheet of where the money goes towards she refused. She overworks players and doesn’t care one bit. Playing for Dawn is basically a full time job. She doesn’t care that you are there for school first. "
"The dude is a fraud but he pulled it off getting multiple schools to hire him. Here's what you need to know. He was evasive and borderline dishonest during the recruiting process and often couldn't even look you in the eye. His philosophy seemed to change every time you spoke with him and he often contradicted himself. Always got the feeling he was in his over his head so he resorted to telling recruits / players what he wanted to hear. If he is on the staff at the school you are looking at, RUN the other way. The only reason he got one-star ratings in this review is because you can't do zero stars."
"Nilerud’s approach to coaching is demeaning
Divisive dishonest
His best days are behind him
How he won the National in 2018 can only be described as evidence that miracles do happen
He brings at least a half dozen Swedish players a year to the roster and plays them constantly regardless of talents "
"Extremely inviting and friendly during the recruiting process. Upon attending the school, promises made to me were not fulfilled. Practices were hell. I found myself running sprint after sprint wondering when I would ever touch a ball or bat again. "
