"(On her time at UDallas) I do not recommend. One time, a teammate hit another teammate on the sideline, and because I saw it happen, she called me the next day to ask what happened exactly. When I told her, she told me that it was my fault they hit each other and I was not being a good teammate by interfering. We were in the middle of a game- I was not going to interfere with a physical altercation between 2 players. She was an incredibly inconsistent coach and in 2 years, she had a combined 26 players quit/transfer, leaving myself and one other player on the team, and the second year leaving myself and 3 other players on the team. It was horrible. She had an all-freshman lineup and then wondered why we only won 2 games. She blamed me and my co-captain (a sophomore and junior as captains because she had no other upperclassmen) for not being good leaders, but when we would ask her for help, she basically told us there was nothing she could do and we needed to figure it out on our own. She said so many undeserved and out-of-pocket things to my teammates as well- she specifically said the worst things to the girls who really cared and worked the hardest (it sure seemed that way). She blamed our losing on being too young, but she never instilled good values, let people get away with poor attitudes/behavior/actions, and did not inspire us, push us, or encourage us. She knew about drama on the team and did nothing. In one game, I was playing really well, and when I subbed out, she told me, "You need to do better if you want to stay in". I had panic attacks about my performance because no matter how good I was playing, it was never enough for her, but then she had players who could make 100 mistakes, and she would never pull them. I never felt like she believed in me. She was hard to talk to, did not put effort into creating a good team culture, blamed problems on literally anything that meant she did not have to work to change anything, and did not listen to me and my co-captain when we told her we wanted to quit- she did not care. Ultimately, she had no backbone to actually get players to respect and listen to her. She never made us run, we never conditioned, we were out of shape. She told me and my co-captain that it was our responsibility to get our teammates out to the gym in the mornings to run lines and that it "wasn't her job". It was not good. After her 9th season, with her third mass exodus of players, she quit. Upon telling us she was leaving, she said, "I hope the next coach has better luck with you guys,", it was the most passive-aggressive thing and that was when I realized I had zero respect left for her- and I tried so hard to have respect for her and have a good relationship with her because I didn't think she would ever get fired but then she quit, and now I don't have to. Because she left, I have an excitement for volleyball that I have not had in a while. I would blame the multiple mass-exoduses on the transfer portal- but only 3 (out of her 26+ who left) ended up transferring- the problem was her. "
"I played for Loftis for one year in Dallas. I have never hated playing lacrosse more in my life. He’s honestly one of the angriest men I’ve met. He berates players when they ask questions. Asked if my Hispanic teammate knew English. Tried to talk to players about their intimate lives. Could never justify his game plans through logic, but by stating that he was an assistant at providence once, and we’re D3 players so we shouldn’t question him. His lifting program was embarrassing. However, his biggest downfall was his demeanor. The team’s energy would be high before practice and once we saw him come to the field, everybody’s energy dropped. Before our first game, we were doing this up passing drill and we were communicating and high energy. He then proceeded to yell at us and screamed “Is this how you guys prepare for a game?” I asked him later what was wrong with the drill to which I was met with no response. Our team consistently held meetings over him and the only reason we stuck together as a team was because we cared for one another. If one of us quit the team, there would no longer be a team (due to lack of numbers). It got to the point to where our team captain had on his notes app upwards of 30 instances just that year in which Loftis acted inappropriately towards players. Regardless of the UD lacrosse program shutting down, 7/9 freshman that were on the team, decided that they will not play lacrosse for him again. He is one of the rudest people I have met and under no circumstances, do I recommend a player to commit to any team or university that has Keith Loftis in the coaching staff. "
"This guy ruined my confidence on the lacrosse field. I ended up dreading playing the game that I once was passionate about due to his inability to coach, motivate, or communicate with any of us. It's unfortunate to watch so many kids quit and transfer because this guy makes playing for him so awful. Definitely not the "best job I ever had""
"If this system let me rate him as a zero I would. Guy has no idea what's going on. He does a horrible job of teaching kids and offers no positive reinforcement, only negative comment. Incoming classes will come in with 20+ kids and end with 2-5 kids remaining on the team by their senior. Multiple good players have left the team bc of him "
"Most inspirational guy I've ever met. His motivating halftime and timeout speeches could make me run through a wall. Great guy, don't regret playing for him at all. Love this man, he's my fearless leader. Has great in-game strategy and adjustments. No, this isn't sarcasm."
"Incompetent at best. No assistant coach consistency ever in his 6 years, losing record, 35+ transfers leaving the school, countless kids quitting, poor role model, unable to mentor and communicate, basically failing at all aspects of the necessary qualities a college coach should have and resemble. Unsure how a college accepts him representing it. "
"I thought this guy was the team impact kid for the men's lax team. Turns out he's the coach. This guys a joke. He makes his assistant coaches his little parrots who repeat all the irrelevant stuff he comes up with. He consistently brags about this unbelievable team he coached at providence when he was most likely an equipment manager."
"Worst coach I have ever had. Guy couldn't motivate me to make a sandwich. It is crazy that Keith Loftis has a job after the amount of kids that have quit. Instead of motivating his players like most coaches would, Loftis just screams and dehumanizes his players. I dreaded every single second of playing for him which is why I am transferring"
" I came in with 24 guys freshman year and by senior year all but three had quit or transferred directly because of him. he's pathetically incompetent, treats his players as subhuman, and does nothing but make his players dread every second they're obligated to be there. As long as he's there assumption lacrosse is going nowhere but into the ground."
"In 5 seasons, Loftis has gone through 8 assistant coaches. They probably all quit because they hated his dictator and explosive way. Loftis gives Assumption a really bad reputation in the coaching community. Its time to get a new coach who can hire and retain talented assistant coaches to improve the program. "
"This was my coach. I transferred after a terrible experience with Coach Loftis. He ruined my first semester at college and my love for the game of lacrosse. He wasted my time and pushed away many talented players. I took time out of my day to help my former teammates. Loftis has to go before he completely ruins the Assumption Men's lacrosse program"
"Cannot fathom the fact that this man has been able to keep his job for this long. the only success the team has made is because of the players, not him. constantly makes players feel insecure rather than build confidence and develop skill. way too self centered and doesn't consider what others think. thick headed, ignorant, bad person and coach "
"This coach does not understand what it means to be a coach. In no way what so ever is this coach a leader he does not understand how to motivate a team or even relate to the players. He is dehumanizing and does not respect his athletes. I am not the only one that has transferred and I am sure not the last if this coach is not replaced."
"Does not take the time to know his players. Buries confidence of kids who are not developing as quickly into his "scheme". Does not show his players any sort of respect or compassion as players or as people. Have no clue how this guys been coaching in that conference at a school like that this long. Worst coach/human being I've ever encountered. "
