"This coach is very knowledgeable I will not lie. He knows his stuff and has cool drills. He has his moments of being fun and chill. On the downside, he is the worst communicator I have ever dealt with. Take any promise with a grain of salt especially with playing time or where he sees you on the field. He will lie about stuff and flip it on to you pretty frequently. Be careful voicing any opinion because if it isn’t his opinion you will be told you are back talking. He treats players like boys and talks to them like that, a lot of insults unless you are his favorite and boy does he have favorites. If you aren’t his favorite good luck because he will treat you differently. He does like work ethic so if you work hard and have a good Attitude you have a 5% of maybe getting a chance to prove yourself. He talks badly about his players on the sideline constantly. If you make a mistake, he will trash you to the rest of the team (unless you’re a favorite). He is taking steps to make better team environments but not the right ones and not quick enough. If you are a favorite, you can treat the team as badly as you want with no repercussions. "
"Everything on paper looks good. Structured, organized, works hard. Preaches full student athlete experience academics included. Boasts about class attendance and GPA. However also turns a blind eye so students can cheat on all exams while on the road, schedules road swings during exams, easy to get top GPA every year when we all take the same classes and get the answers passed to us. The school does not offer a ton of classes so some majors you just cannot take since they only offer their classes during our practice block which is 6am to noon every day. Actively discourages players to use the free university resources when it comes to health and safety. Had player on team going through crisis because of stress, then told the locker room after administration left that if any player uses any services provided it better only be because they absolutely need it or else we are just soft. Tells some players they can’t play because their fitness’s isn’t good enough meanwhile his captain has never once passed a fitness test but on the background it’s okay for them because same players dad is a massive donor. Punishes players for taking time off and going to their families, and will punish a player for their parents actions. Accepts money from players parents to pay “volunteer” assistant coaches and also lets that player start.
Now to the positives. A genius tactical coach, his system works when there are the correct players recruited. Team has continued year in and year out. success. All but guaranteed a tournament bid every year with poor conference opponents. So you can take the good with the bad. Program is not for everyone. "
"Jeff is fine, but he ultimately does anything Levi says and does. Likes his players a little too much… (he married one of his players). Fine coach, but will never be more than winning the summit league and being a first round exit of the NCAA tournament "
"Extremely experienced after winning seven National Championships. Wants you to succeed immediately after stepping foot on campus. Not only cares about your performance as an athlete, wants you to become a better person throughout the process. "
"I was beyond lucky to have Liza as a coach. She's like another mom to all of us. Incredible lacrosse knowledge, and passion for the game while also building a deep connection with each of her players. She's hilarious and will do anything to get her players pumped up (i.e. dancing at halftime of the elite 8). Championship mindset & family culture. "
"Liza is super knowledgeable and passionate about lacrosse. She is trying to build the championship mindset here at DU and her passion carries directly to the mindset of the team. Liza pushes us to not only be the best Lax players, but also the best students, teammates and people possible. "
"Tom is one of the best coaches I have worked with. He let's you know where you stand and helps you push through adversity. The gym culture and team culture promotes honesty, and the ability to mess up and learn. "
"Very committed coach who will put in as much work as necessary to help his team be successful on he field, in the classroom, and in life after college."
"Liza is an awesome coach who understands how hard it is to be a student athlete, but always is pushing us to get better. She's super understanding and is really approachable. She also values team dynamic which is something I feel is really important as a college athlete."
"Hands down the best coach that I have had. The most organized, prepared and intelligent coach that I have met. He sets a high standard for himself and his players and pushes them to get there best on and off the field. He is as great as a coach as he is an individual. It was a privilege to have him as coach."
"Liza was overall a great coach that brought Denver to higher rankings and appearances in the NCAA tournament. Competitive about the game but compassionate with her players."
"I cannot rate Melissa Kutcher high enough. She is the most genuine coach I have ever had. She cares about her athletes as individuals and not just as a part of the team. She is passionate about coaching, ranks character and culture above all, and invests in the right resources to support her student athletes to be well-rounded individuals who can graduate and be confident leaving the sport. As an 8-year alum of her program, I heard many horror stories of other coaches throughout the country and I am thankful every day that I ended up with Melissa. We still talk today and catch up every once in a while because as stated before, she cares about her athletes as individuals and that relationship continues post-college and throughout life. "
