"Experienced Coach who has totally absorbed the new school trend with data and analytics. Runs a new-school type of program which is very similar to a major league approach."
"Best coach I’ve played for in my whole entire life. For the first time ever I felt like I belonged in the group with a common desire to be the best, starting from the culture built by him as a coach. Baseball is his whole life and I respect the heck out of that because I was the same way where it was almost obsessive. I was that way as a player and had been with coaches in the past who just kinda go through the motions. Even if the talent doesn’t jump out at you, he expects his team to play with the best of them. Believing in yourself is half the battle. Only negative I would say is sometimes shows a lot of negative emotion coaching 3rd if offense is quiet. And for myself being a pitcher, sometimes he didn’t read players well and maybe didn’t know their personality all the way. But most importantly you can tell he really cares and makes you want to run through a brick wall for him. From the first team meeting hearing his mindset and seeing the paper print outs with different philosophies, I knew I was playing for someone that’s a different breed. He even hands out articles and mind map things for the mental game to look at on long bus rides. I still have those and look at them sometimes because the principles can be applied to business, career, etc. I also liked how open he was to discuss things one on one just about life in general if you stop in his office. I remember he borrowed me a book on Mike Matheny when he was the Cardinals manager that I really liked. That was just who he was with many other baseball or leadership books to always improve and be dedicated to his craft. Will never forget the impact he had on my life. I sort of let him down and myself after juco and am upset I’m not involved in that baseball sphere anymore. Even if you weren’t the greatest player, he’d make you believe in yourself to go out and compete with the best of them. I’ll forever cherish the moments being apart of his program because I’ve never seen anything before or since that lives up to it. Wishing him the best in all future roles in baseball, whether it be coaching, managing, scouting, etc. I could see him being a Mike Schildt, who ironically was Matheny’s successor in St. Louis, working up to a good pro ball gig even though as a player they did not play pro ball or anything after college. Not easy to work your way up to that after not ever playing pro ball, but if anyone could be another one to do that, Coach Dave Pearson would be he guy. "
"The most manipulative horrible coach and human I’ve ever come across. Likes to pick favourites and traumatise others. Absolutely psychopath. Stay away from coach carter. "
"She was an amazing coach and is always there for us. She was definitely one of the most competitive people I have ever met and I loved this about her. She was intense but she always had our best interest at heart. For sure a great asset to the Iowa field hockey program. "
"This was the worst coach I have ever had. He was my coach at the University of Iowa and completely manipulated all of us. Didn’t believe in mental health, put a HOLE in the wall from being so aggressive kicking a door, and treated us like robots. You were never seen as a person, only an erg score. If you didn’t perform to his liking, you were shoved to the side and treated like gum on the bottom of his shoe. Doesn’t ever deserve to work with athletes- I also watched him treat his coaching staff horribly. Demeaned an assistant coach in front of all of her boat that she was coaching. Has a God complex. Turned all of the girls against one another for his own sake. Shitty person, shitty coach. "
"Worst coach ever experienced. Coach Carter is a manipulative, cruel and overall horrible coach and person. His time at the University of Miami saw many Olympic champions quit the sport and suffer manipulative and cruel treatment. He can’t work with athletes, or other coaches. He ruined so many athletes at Miami. Avoid him at all costs Toxic man. "
"I rowed for Coach Carter early in his career. He's abnormal for the rowing community in that he's more technically knowledgeable and intellectual than 98% of other rowing coaches. I know this because I coached collegiate rowing after rowing for him. If you're seeking the "rah-rah" sort, maybe not for you - but the quiet intellectual type, go for it"
"Not a good coach to people who aren't superstars. doesn't know how to develop players based on their strengths and weaknesses. isn't very personable towards her players."
"One of the best coach's in the country if you are willing to put in your time. He is not one that will tell you to get in the gym and motivate you to be better. He is fair and will give you what you deserve though. Coach McCaffery is a loyal, sometimes to a fault, coach that loves his players. You feel like a part of the family with Fran. "
"she has always been someone i can go to with absolutely anything and she is a great support system especially when you're away from your parents for school"
"She is a very nice person with a huge smile on her face. She transmit good vibes and motivation to be the best version of yourself. You can reach out to her if you have any problems. She is always willing to help you. "
"Tom and Terry Brands are phenomenal coaches. They have taught me so much about wrestling, myself, and life. They know how to push you to your limits and bring the best out of you on and off the mat."
"Always yelled at me because he was jealous of how big my forehand was. Sometimes plays favorites when my hair was not on point. Loves you if you win but hates you if you lose. Has a bad southern accent but tries hard to mimic it. Always tells people they will receive a lot of scholarship then is never a man of his word."
"His knowledge and strategy behind the game is impressive. He takes into consideration the opponent and scout report to best match-up depending on personnel available. He is a bit vague when it comes to motivating players due to the fact that his approach is wishy-washy, not upfront with his personal motive, self-righteous, and testy towards players. He demands a culture of competitive athletes through and through. He is a respectable coach, but not as personable and caring as others."
"One of the worst coaches I have ever encountered. This is not just my opinion, but the majority of the team feels the same. He has definitely ruined the "team" feeling that has been instilled in us for many years. He gossips and tries to pin players against each other, by trying to make us rat on other players. Dave DiIanni is a very immature coach and I cannot wait to never see his face again."
"Great knowledge of the game and shows during practices with the sessions he runs. However, he is not a great communicater with the team so a little hard to know what is going on at times. Its best to be super fit coming into the program or he makes comments along the lines of no playing time and being useless to the team and program. If you think you are fit, think again. At his time at the University of Iowa, two B1G Ten seasons and 3 spring seasons, a total of 11 players have torn their ACLs."
"Marc killed a lot of people's passion for the sport. He made terrible administrative decisions, and created no culture during his tenure. He rode the coattails of a few great athletes from 2009-2015. During my time there, the amount of kids that didn't hit their potential was incredible. The one's that did, were always going to. Marc didn't coach anyone up, and he was an awful communicator with no empathy."
