"Brought one of the worst programs in the country to a top tier program in the NSIC conferance. A top conference in division II baseball. His work ethic is barr none. My Son has enjoyed playing for him!!!! My son don't play alot but has loved being part of the team!!!"
"He is a coach that is very motivated to win and wants the best for his players. Coach Gust is very intense and as a player, I can appreciate a leader who wants the best for his team. However, his own personal opinions about certain players can be detrimental to the overall future success to the program. He plays favorites and lets those players have a much longer leash in regards to opportunities and playing time. If Gust had coaches that were able to stand up to him and voice their honest opinions, this would likely resolve itself. Instead, he has surrounded himself with former players and 'yes-men' as coaches. Coach Gust has the potential to be a great coach, but needs better people skills, to be more personable, and to treat each player according to the same standard. "
"He is able to make analogies and examples that are transferable to different sports and certain players. He is a friend and colleague whose input is always helpful and applicable."
"Dishonest and doesn't care about players. All tags are positive and geared for successful rating. He is not understanding, is not fair, and in my opinion not a good coach. "
"He treated any player who wasn’t a starter or reliever, very unfairly, a lot of times no communication to them, and did not include them in the team throughout the whole season. Poor, very poor recognition. I would never recommend him to anyone, theirs several players who had the time playing, and will tell you he same thing."
"Coaches his feelings more than what is right in situations, makes rash and often abrasive decisions, routinely breaks NCAA rules, and has a no fault to self attitude. He has good motivation/intentions for people that he likes in the program but has his favorites. "
"Lacks the ability to understand and get to know players. Teaches conformity. Miss understands the "new school" mechanics of baseball. Trouble showing compassion and empathy for injuries and the players who are injured.
He does have a strong understanding of the mental approach to the game."
"Kyle is one if not the best coach I have had in all my years of playing sports. He made soccer fun and kept us going even after hard times such as losses. Kyle was always available for us to talk to him and was very open. He is very honest, kind and has a huge heart and passion for the game. "
"One of the best coaches I have ever had. He is very welcoming, thoughtful and caring. He puts the needs of his athletes before his own and is always there for us no matter what the circumstances are. "
"Always pushes players to be not only the best players on the field but off the field as well. Wants players to be the best versions of themselves no matter what their contribution to the team is."
"Always there to help out and make sure you are feeling comfortable. The training regiment is very simple and efficient. Especially with the season that we had with covid, he has been very careful to keep us in shape and to make sure we do not do too much."
"Very honest, demands respect and hard work as any good coach should. Very good person and encourages a family environment and treats each player as a part of his family."
"Best coach I have seen in all aspects of coaching. Cares about the players as people and wants all players to be better as a person when they leave his program. "
"I spent 2 years under Coach Meseck and he has completely taken away my love for the game. He picks out players and makes their season hell. He talks bad about players, to other players. He lies to players about everything, picks favorites, and does little to no preparation for any games. He destroyed multiple players mental health, and when it was brought to his attention he completely dismissed it. He refuses to listen to anyone’s opinion and will only do what he thinks is correct. He is passive aggressive, has NO care for his players, and doesn’t coach. He expects the players to coach themselves and then gets angry when they don’t succeed. He is simply the worst coach I have ever experienced."
