"I entered college, loving the sport of lacrosse my entire life. Rain, sleet, snow - it didn’t matter. If I had the choice I would play lacrosse. AnneHarrington and her staff took that away from me. From a complete lack of respect for players to a dismissive attitude to any player who was not a starter. Then to a complete lack of compassion for or understanding of the mindset of a female athlete. Anne Harrington knew little about developing players or understanding, young female athletes. I would never recommend anyone trust their daughter to this coach. The disregard for physical ailments was a great concern. But more important, the disregard for mental well-being was inexcusable. I watched a teammate of mine, push herself to the point that she couldn’t get enough oxygen. She was seeing black. But she was so afraid to stop during the run that she pushed until she collapsed. After that, Coach Harrington said nothing. Did nothing. Even the training staff didn’t address it. It was humiliating for my teammate and frightening for the rest of us. For the next several weeks, I watched that teammate be punished with zero playing time, zero indies with the assistant coach, zero attention from any of the coaching staff, zero attention from the training staff. It was likeshe no longer existed. They just didn’t care. in their minds she had failed and they made that known to her. As a coach, she is the failure. People like to recognize the accolades of the team like A10 championships. But athletics should be more than that. And coaches should care about the women who work so hard to attain those things. Anne Harrington is not that kind of coach."
"She plays favorites which I guess coaches do. But she does it in such a way that you KNOW they don’t care about you I you aren’t their favorite player. It’s a great school so I’m happy to be here. But lacrosse has become the worst part. "

"She knows the game but she is only concerned about starters. Doesn’t develop other players or even give them a chance to get better. Not a role model"
"Creates a negative environment for athletes that divides team. Complete disregard for the physical and mental well being of her athletes. Very negative culture that includes unequal expectations and treatment, shaming and massive favoritism. "
"Coach Jamie is both knowledgable about the game of hockey and cares about students in her program. 10 out of 10 would recommend. She holds athletes to a high standard, but supports them so they can achieve their best. "
"Absolute worst person in this entire universe. He lies about his players. He actually had a player take the fall for him because he was scared of repercussions from the NCAA. He makes disgusting remarks about players significant others. He has no care about the wellbeing of his players, and in a heartbeat he would sell out anyone for the sake of a millimeter gain in his absolute trainwreck of a career. Kirk Gibson should have hit him with a double fist pump to the face with his World Series ring that he piggy backed. No shocker though that he takes credit for a World Series that he never even played in. On top of that he convinced multiple players with professional aspirations to stay in school to play for him, just for him to sit them the next year and treat them like trash. Never believe a word this person says. You may think I’m just a disgruntled player, mad about playing time, but just ask a few alumni and they will corroborate the exact story. Beyond thrilled he is no longer impacting anyone’s lives. "
"Based on my experience, Marty Beall is overall a poor coach who does not care about his players. He preaches “respect, love, positive actions” and that the “person is more important than the player” but exhibits the complete opposite. He never goes out of his way to help players on the team, even if they ask him. Because of how unaware he treats his players, many develop mental health issues and depletion in confidence. If you ask him what you need to work on, he will be very vague. There have been many players who left, some being starters, because they could not handle how he treated others. He has a direct style of play that will ruin players who have a lot of skill. He also does not listen or work with the other assistant coaches, who do not advocate for players on the team and are unable to make suggestions. His personality off the field is also not very welcoming."
"If you're not one of his top 16 players, you may as well not even be on the practice field. He coaches his favorites while all other players stand by and listen. Team culture was not bad. It could have been better if genuine leaders had been chosen to represent the team instead of his "top" players. Like I said, if you weren't in his top 16, you were nothing more than a weak link."
"Has different standards based on if you are a favorite or not and his knowledge of the game is questionable. Not very respectful when communicating with women. "
"Everything he says comes off great, but he is very hypocritical. He is a master manipulator. Wants all swimmers to be extremely lean muscle. Talks about food often in negative ways. He picks favorites. He does not care about mental health. Do not recommend unless he is not the coach."
"Matt does not care about the dive team and excludes us from as many activities as possible. He undervalues the benefits a close bond between swim and dive could foster. He also does poorly with injuries. "

"Very grounded and motivates his divers in a way that is constructive. He cares about his athletes as a whole person, and not just as their contribution to the sport (ex- mental health, school, etc)"
"If you are naturally fast, he will love you and he will be a great coach towards you. He is amazing at what he does but he picks a few favorites and uses them to inspire the other teammates. It does not work. He is very hypocritical. Acts like he cares about academics and mental health but has destroyed so many swimmer's mental health. "
"Coach Archbell is a great coach all around. Could improve his personal connection-making with players, but he is working on it actively and even with that being said, it is very clear to everyone that he cares about our team/the guys on it more than anything. I saw he and his wife hammering ice on the field so we could practice many times. "
"Matt definitely values athletic skill over academic performance. For anyone with any mental health/eating disorder issues, this is not the program to be in, as it will likely get worse based on the way he runs this program. I didn't find his practices or coaching style to be helpful to my development as a swimmer, but other people have done well. "
"Russ Huesman is a pretty mediocre coach and I credit that to his lack of professionalism and his difficulties earning players trust. This trend has continued which is what I credit the low level of success we have had as a team. "
"Matt runs a championship program. While I don't agree with all of his methodology, I would choose to be coached by him again, undoubtedly. He sets high standards. Yet, he is deeply invested in the academics and character of his swimmers. Much of my growth in college came as a result of having Matt as my coach, and for that I am incredibly grateful."
"Coach Barrick is very knowledgable about the sport, especially on the doubles court. He knows how to balance the serious side and the relaxing side of a team very well. He has very high expectations which have its pros and sometimes its cons. "
"I think her heart is in the right place but she has lost sight about what her role is as a Coach. She is a very passionate person with rigid personal beliefs and allows these to guide her coaching but they are so restricting these get in the way of her team being successful. Quick to judge a person if they do not agree with her beliefs."
"Can be tough to talk to and has a tough time connecting with players, however I think she is knowledgeable in the sport and truly does care about her players. I think she is starting to figure out the balance she needs to have as a head coach and improved with every year I played under her."
"Coach Shafer has helped me through my 5 years as a Spider grow and develop despite injuries and tough chapters that I encountered in my collegiate career."
"Matt will mess with your mental health with his mind games. Constantly tells girls they are fat. Talks behind swimmers' backs. Dishonest, rude and condescending. Cannot take when students put their academics before swimming. Do not recommend. "
"Coach Shafer has a ton of experience and really knows what he is talking about when it comes to women's basketball. He also has an excellent coaching staff behind him that go above and beyond to make sure the players have everything to make them succeed on the court and in the classroom. I know of stories that players that have struggled and the coaches have went out of their way to work extra with them to help them be the best they can be. Coach Shafer is why I chose this school."
"Very straight forward no BS kind of guy. Cares about his players. His way or the highway. Hard to have a conversation with sometimes. Goes above and beyond with regard to preparation both in season and out of season."
"Coach Archbell is an outstanding resource on the defensive end and extremely knowledgeable when it comes to that side of the field. On offense he is a bit behind but Coach Silberlicht perfectly makes up for that. Coach Archbell has not always been that easy to relate to but in the time I've spent with him it is easy to see he has been making strides to become much more relateable- something that has helped the team overall over the last few years."
"He is a truly genuine guy and wants everyone in his program to succeed not only on the field but in life after college soccer. He is very upfront in his expectations of his players. Also, has a great sense of humor."
"Has set a "team culture" which she puts her views and beliefs on the team without taking in consideration of how it effects the players. Very passionate about her beliefs and her views to a point that it is a disadvantage to her as a coach when someone does not believe or agree with what she does. Plays mind games with certain players. Came across as one person when she recruited me as a player and turned into a completely different one after her two other coaches left the program."
"I graduated more than 5 years ago and I’m still in therapy dealing with the trauma this man gave me. He went out of his way to be sadistic and nasty. If you’re not one of the lucky few he favors, he won’t be kind. If you’re unlucky enough to be specifically disfavored, he will do everything in his power to break you. He is well versed in the hoovering technique and as others have mentioned, he constantly makes comments about our bodies/ criticizes us for eating. He conflates respect with obedience and takes questions for clarity as personal attacks. He stole my love of the sport and his abusive behavior has landed me in therapy dealing with it. I would give anything to warn my impressionable high school self against falling for his charming facade. "
