" As an international student, be aware that the weather in season is frigid in Michigan. Be prepared to play in the rain, freezing rain, snow and sleet. There is no on-campus practice facility. There is a single indoor hitting bay in the basement of the fieldhouse. There also is no golf course affiliated with the university. Therefore, arrangements are made with local clubs, however, club members take precedence, resulting in very limited opportunity to play. Due to weather, most private clubs are not even open for the spring season, so there is very little practice before spring tournaments. Cannot practice at the private clubs outside of team practice. There is no school transportation to golf course for practice. Must get rides with teammates, which becomes challenging when school schedules don't align and not everyone has a car.
The golf team is either poorly funded or mismanaged, so be prepared to be asked to raise $1,000+ per player for travel.
Very little practice. Practice is less than what NCAA allows. The coach continues his private lessons at his home course even though this is a full-time position and treats it as a part-time job. Promises are broken.
Coach lacks enthusiasm, is pessimistic, and is incapable of being supportive of his players. He does not bring out the best in his players, leading to little growth and transfers of top players. Furthermore, he bad mouths players to the parents of other players.
It is a good school but if you are coming more for golf than school, you will be dissappointed."
"I have seen some of the recent posts here, and I couldn't disagree more with what I am reading. I am wondering if these are even real Warriors writing these comments! So many of my teammates improved and have a good team bonding experience under the leadership with Coach Sean. I know he has been so helpful to me and so many others. He takes time to get to know every athlete and tries to help them, and I am a proud Warrior."
"Wayne state swimming was a complete different experience than I thought it would be. They preach bonding and make it appear as if everyone is kind and supportive but that is the opposite of reality. He picks his favorites and everyone else is nothing to him. He doesn’t even try to act like he cares about the slower swimmers. Workouts were bearable but results were not worth swimming under him. He preaches results but majority of people I swam with never beat their best times from high school. He’s very overrated. "
"Absolutely horrible coach. If you’re not the best swimmer he wants nothing to do with you. Team is also extremely clique. Saves all the money for foreigners and none for the average swimmers. Foreigners get food, school, housing paid for while other swimmers get nothing. Incredibly mean and crude. Picks a swimmer to pick on and will yell at them constantly. If you’re not a top scoring swimmer, don’t swim here save yourself your mental health, I wish I did. "
"Coach Peters wasn’t just a coach, but he was a mentor and someone I could look up to. He Cared about the swimmers student/academic life more than the athlete life which you don’t find a lot among college coaches. He is always eager and fired up to let you get better not just as an athlete but as a person as well. His practices are brutal but worth"

"Overall he is a good coach, just has a certain way of doing things engrained in his head even though it doesn't necessarily work well. He picks favorites, but will do whatever he can to help each player out."
