"My daughter entered this program full of love for dance—excited to grow, be part of a team, and represent her school. But under Coach Audrey’s leadership, that love was quickly stripped away.
She was humiliated, excluded, and ultimately left the team—not because of talent, but because of the toxic environment Coach Audrey allows to thrive. A small group of dancers is allowed to control team dynamics, unchecked by leadership. They decide who’s in and who’s out. Audrey either doesn’t see it or chooses not to step in—but either way, the harm is very real.
Even parents have spoken up and asked for change—but nothing meaningful is ever done.
Multiple dancers have been allowed to lead through fear, gossip, and exclusion. That’s what happens when a coach fails to address the root of the problem. The culture becomes toxic, and new team members are left to either tolerate the behavior, stay quiet, or walk away.
The most toxic individual is still on the team today—and continues to shape the environment in damaging ways. What’s worse is that the behavior doesn’t stop when a dancer leaves. My daughter witnessed that small group continue to gossip, post, and bully others long after they’ve moved on from the team. They laugh just to maintain control. It’s mean-girl behavior with lasting emotional consequences. and it’s enabled by a coach who refuses to stop it.
If you’re considering this program, pay attention to how many dancers quietly disappear each year. There’s a pattern—and it matters.
Red flags to know:
• Conflict is ignored
• Certain dancers hold unhealthy control over team culture
• High turnover every season
• No emotional safety or accountability
• Very little diversity
A new season may be starting, but the same toxic culture remains. My daughter is still healing from what happened. She wasn’t the first, and sadly, she may not be the last.
Please protect your child’s mental health and self-worth. No program is worth enduring a toxic coach.

"I was really excited to dance in college but my experience with Coach Audrey was disappointing. The team atmosphere allowed bullies to thrive and Coach Audrey didn’t do anything to stop it. She didn’t give any feedback on dance technique and many people ended up quitting the team because of how bad things were.
Coach Audrey put the bullies in charge and it made the rest of us afraid to speak up. It’s sad to see the team pretend on social media that everything is great when it’s not. I feel bad for the new freshmen who don’t know what they’re getting into.
If you’re thinking about joining, my advice is to find another dance team or join a sorority instead. Coach Audrey’s program isn’t worth it!"
"Loved her at first because I thought she cared. She is very religious and pushes that on the team. The reality is that she is not a strong coach and doesn’t offer any constructive feedback to help you improve. It’s weird who is chosen for nationals because some dancers with good technique were not included in favor of dancers that are “favorites”. She lets the older dancers bully the new dancers. And bullies are given “leadership” awards. There is huge turnover year after year. Before you try out look at how many people choose not to return every year. There is a reason. "
"Coach Chumbley has been a great coach, leader and example for our son. He is a straight shooter, honest and truly cares about our son and his teammates. He is a constructive leader who knows how to calmly motivate our son. I have never witnessed anything other than professionalism and integrity from this coach. From what I can see as a parent, he provides the student athletes with opportunities and direction and expects them to do their part to meet thier goals. We could not be happier to have Coach Chumbley as our son’s coach. Coach Chumbley knows how to get through to him. We truly feel blessed to have had Coach Chumbley teaching, Coaching and mentoring our son during his time at WKU. "
