"Coach Valmon was an incredible athlete. Personally, I do not believe that a great athlete always makes a great coach. In my opinion, V was inaccessible at times and a poor communicator. The favorites game was definitely played and it showed. You were valued on your highs but on your lows, you barely existed. I wish this box was longer to say more. "

"Coach Valmon means well but at times his focus on putting certain athletes in the best position to do well hinders the team on a much higher magnitude than I think he notices. He can be a bit intimidating to approach after hearing what he has done to others. Overall, to me he is a nice person to me. "

"Spends little time developing athletes that don't come in already at the top of their event. As such, he plays the recruiting game pretty hard which limits his already inaccessible schedule. I can't say much about his coaching style as I wasn't in his event group, but you only need to see the past decade of lackluster results to shape an opinion."
"He is definitely a very motivational person, and makes me want to work harder. I don't mind him being hands-off at times, because that's what our event coaches are there for. I talk to my event coach almost everyday, but Coach V always talks to me before meets to make sure I'm set, and I think that at the end of the day, he keeps tabs on everyone"
"Coach V can be a very encouraging. I do agree that it is sometimes hard to reach or get definite responses or tailored workouts/help for your event area. I did appreciate that he came to cross country practices often even after the sprinters started their fall training. Overall nice guy but can be a little out of touch with certain athletes"
"I love Coach V; though I did not have the best relationship with him while being his athlete, I know that he will always have my back. If I ever reach out to him, I have no doubt he would connect with me if I needed him. I wish he would connect better with his athletes at the time of their tenure, whether they jump, throw, or run."
