"Coach Van Vechten became defense and combative when question on the questionnaire platform she sent my daughter to fill out personal information about herself and they family. The URL had no reference of Rochester, and a quick google search of the URL resulted in 3 different companies coming up, some okay, some not. Instead of listening to a parent concerned about identity theft as the minimum, and human trafficking as the worst, she seemed completely confused as to why I would question where my data was going, and what measures were in place to protect our data and my daughters safety. She really didn't seem to understand the concern, defaulted to the decision is made above my pay grade, and seemed to want to dispatch the problem because it was inconvenient and she didn't have an answer. If you're treating a parent this way, I can only imagine how an 18-22 year old student is going to be treated if the come with a challenging question."
"Van vechten is currently coaching at the University of Rochester since 2022. Her coaching style is impulsive, unobjective, and emotional. She uses modern buzz words like growth mindset, shared team culture, personal accountability. Her actions and communication style are overly authoritarian and blurr into condescending and bullying behavior.
$30,000 of player-raised funds have gone unaccounted for while players don’t have enough socks, shorts, or gear for the entire team. VanVecten places player safety at risk by not allowing dynamic warmup or dynamic stretching Yes. She doesn’t allow it! She keeps injured players at practice shagging balls rather than off their feet. She is prone to outbursts of personal player attacks, and character shaming. Players are overly intimidated by her and scared to say what they feel in front of her, but to listening ears all players will state that the team experience is miserable. Even her assistant coaches tell the players that she is unobjective and choosing to focus on the wrong factors of a team environment while being less than ideal as a head coach. Do not play for this coach. That’s all the can be emphasized. "
