"During recruitment and follow-up conversations, the coaching staff gave my daughter the clear impression that this program offered a supportive, family-oriented team environment. That sense of trust and care was a major reason she chose this school.
About a month into her freshman year, it became clear that this was not the reality. What followed felt like a complete bait and switch.
From the start, coaches fostered animosity between teammates rather than unity. Injuries were routinely minimized or ignored, and my daughter’s mental health declined rapidly as a result of the environment. By her second year, the situation worsened—coaches were openly spreading rumors about their own wrestlers, further dividing the team as it grew.
There was a consistent disregard for rules, athlete safety, and academics. Teammates were encouraged to be overly aggressive with one another. Trainers were pressured to clear wrestlers who should not have been cleared, and coaches repeatedly attempted to override medical professionals’ orders. Schoolwork—especially concerning at a Division III institution—was treated as an afterthought rather than a priority.
What became painfully clear is that if a wrestler fell out of favor with the staff, the response was not support or development, but pressure—mental, physical, and emotional.
The optimistic, motivated daughter we sent to college is not the same. What remains is someone still trying to rebuild after an experience that never should have happened.
If you are considering this program for your daughter, I strongly encourage you to look elsewhere.

"This coach was consistently putting his favorites above others to the point of mental physical and emotional harm. Only cared about winning. Doesn’t take injuries or athletic trainers seriously. Lied during recruitment. Poor organization and poor communication. Doesn’t know good freestyle technique and doesn’t coach in the corner. Intentionally sows discord between teammates in the room. "
