"Coach Brown has handled a truly bizarre incident that occurred between two brand new swimmers making extremely poor choices in a dorm room, with nothing but swift and appropriate ZERO tolerance action. The team has grown stronger because of it. No room on this team for racism nor for those who instigate such a foul action and then outrageously fail to own up to their own actions (seemingly with parental support to boot!).
As a parent, I applaud this coach and think he and his team should receive nothing but our unwavering continued support for the way he’s handled it.
A stranger than fiction tale of completely false narrative that ended up hurting a lot of quality people including a very special team of young people along with their coaches as well as true victims of actual racial discrimination and hate crimes.
Coach is a first class individual and I hope he and his team have a wonderful season, it will be well deserved! Looks like they are off to a great start in that direction!"
"I really enjoyed my four years swimming for Greg. I got faster every year under him swam times I never thought I could. I fell like if you want to do well in the pool, put the work in and listen you will do well and enjoy it. The swim team is large, and I imagine it’s hard to keep up with everyone having only one other full time coach, on top of all the other things coaches do. I felt like I could always go to him and he does care. I recommend Coach Greg, he great, but I think the athletes need to understand the program they are going to be apart of as a highly competitive program, with max rosters on both sides and only two coaches. "
"Greg is a great swim coach. Practices are great and many of his swimmers achieve success in the pool. He sets clear team standards but is understanding if there is communication. Wants the teams to do well and works hard to put us in positions to do so. Could improve on his overall relationships with swimmers outside the pool. "
"Really not great. Views his athletes as potential "buddies," rather than as strictly his athletes, resulting in clear favoritism and at worst manipulation. Can run a practice, but is uninspiring, difficult to have hard conversations with, often fails to take accountability, often hypocritical... genuinely cannot relate to the typical student-athlete at Gettysburg college and fails to address team issues in a proactive manner. Sets unrealistic goals. Also promises D3 balance but is highly against students joining Greek life or studying abroad, which are two important and appealing factors of attending Gettysburg College."
