"Kylar Ferguson is the worst coach I have ever played for. She shows blatant favoritism for players that don’t deserve it and pins players against each other. She is knowledgeable about the sport but this is over shadowed by her childish behavior and selfish actions. She doesn’t care for her players only the image that is portrayed. Ferg does not follow the values she sets for the team and therefore creates an environment that is toxic. The way she talks to players is completely unacceptable and doesn’t build you up but tears you down. I have heard from many players (myself included) that they have lost confidence in their playing ability due to Fergs comments. When players ask her questions she is condescending and makes you feel stupid for even asking. She acts like she is available to talk to but no one feels comfortable or like she would help them if they went to her. When asking about your standing on the team she lies and feeds you nonsense to keep you around. I know that many players are excited that she is leaving Longwood and many players left due to her presence. I would never recommend anyone to play for her. "
"A liar who shows favoritism and neglects the rest of the team, resulting in a toxic environment. She's the first to disregard the values and "pillars" she preaches. Many people are transferring or quitting, and her departure is a relief."
"I definitely would not recommend her to anybody. The stories that I am aware of are highly concerning to me as a parent, as she seems to repeatedly play mind games with her players. To teenagers, she may appear kind and well-intentioned, but I think this woman is extremely two-faced, toxic, and manipulative. My daughter fell for it too, and it took her a whole year to finally see the reality of it. Unfortunately, these young girls don't know better. They trust their coaches because they enabled them to live their dream of being college athletes, and don't see that they are being exploited and deserve much better. This coach is only concerned about her personal success and it shows. After last season, six girls left the team or quit playing lacrosse which can't seem normal to anyone.
Kylar Ferguson is definitely too emotionally immature to lead a Division 1 program. My wife and I have been around sports our entire lives, yet her behavior on the sideline is unlike anything we've ever seen before. As soon as the opponent leads the scoreboard, she loses all willpower. I don't know how you can expect a team to stay positive and motivated when the head coach has already given up in the first quarter. She throws her hat, acts like an angry ill-mannered child, and disrespects her own assistant. We were embarrassed to wear Longwood gear at our daughter's games.
She thinks that she's entitled to do anything she wants, but if the Longwood Athletic Department wasn't so loose and unprofessional, she would have already been fired.
Aside from that, she’s all bark but no bite. When you talk to her, you can sense how insecure she actually is in her coaching role.
After all, Kylar Ferguson has a lot of growing up to do if she wants to stay at this level and eventually become successful.
Kylar Ferguson if you are reading this- you are supposed to be a professional, as well as a leader and role model for young women. Act like one."
