Knows The Game Intense Cares About Academics Poor Communication Knowledgeable
"Positives: "Coach Ferg" is extremely knowledgeable about lax and makes up efficient game plans. Her practices are well planned out and she is very organized. She cares about academics and will motivate you to achieve greater goals. Negatives (which definitely overweigh): Her communication is very poor or rather non-existent. You'll never know where you are athletically if you're not lucky to be one of her favorites. Her mood swings are extreme and you'll never know what happens next. One day you'll be starting and the next you'll be on the sideline with her ignoring you all day long. She will advocate for herself by saying she's an honest person, but that's not true at all. She does not care about players' well-being and mentally abuses the girls she personally doesn't like. A lot of my teammates are mentally exhausted because of her and lost their love for lacrosse- some left the team already and more are thinking about it. It's extremely disappointing, especially since Coach Ferg just came in as the new head coach after our old one got fired. She really lures you in at the beginning and makes you feel like she'll create a winning culture and you'll play for a dream coach and program. The team culture actually has been breaking apart under her lead. Ultimately, her behavior on the sideline is beyond embarrassing. She is extremely rude to her own players and the refs, and her comments and threats are not only unprofessional but extremely inappropriate. Although most coaches are passionate on the sideline, Coach Ferguson doesn't have herself under control at all and makes the program look ridiculous and embarrassing. Despite her profound knowledge of the sport, Longwood Lax finished poorly this season (4-12), which is due to her fatal decision-making. She creates insecurity on all ends and because of the lack of communication, e.g. no one is on the same page about plays but also too afraid to ask because of her emotional outbursts. This altogether leads to losing game after game, no matter the talent on the field. After games, she makes you pay for her own mistakes by either harassing you vocally or making you do punishment workouts. She is constantly making emotional instead of professional decisions and loses sight of the real goal of her job (winning or doing what's best for the team). Under her leadership, I have no doubt that Longwood Lacrosse will fail as a program."
