"Kylar Ferguson is the worst coach I have ever played for. She shows blatant favoritism for players that don’t deserve it and pins players against each other. She is knowledgeable about the sport but this is over shadowed by her childish behavior and selfish actions. She doesn’t care for her players only the image that is portrayed. Ferg does not follow the values she sets for the team and therefore creates an environment that is toxic. The way she talks to players is completely unacceptable and doesn’t build you up but tears you down. I have heard from many players (myself included) that they have lost confidence in their playing ability due to Fergs comments. When players ask her questions she is condescending and makes you feel stupid for even asking. She acts like she is available to talk to but no one feels comfortable or like she would help them if they went to her. When asking about your standing on the team she lies and feeds you nonsense to keep you around. I know that many players are excited that she is leaving Longwood and many players left due to her presence. I would never recommend anyone to play for her. "

"A liar who shows favoritism and neglects the rest of the team, resulting in a toxic environment. She's the first to disregard the values and "pillars" she preaches. Many people are transferring or quitting, and her departure is a relief."

"I definitely would not recommend her to anybody. The stories that I am aware of are highly concerning to me as a parent, as she seems to repeatedly play mind games with her players. To teenagers, she may appear kind and well-intentioned, but I think this woman is extremely two-faced, toxic, and manipulative. My daughter fell for it too, and it took her a whole year to finally see the reality of it. Unfortunately, these young girls don't know better. They trust their coaches because they enabled them to live their dream of being college athletes, and don't see that they are being exploited and deserve much better. This coach is only concerned about her personal success and it shows. After last season, six girls left the team or quit playing lacrosse which can't seem normal to anyone. Kylar Ferguson is definitely too emotionally immature to lead a Division 1 program. My wife and I have been around sports our entire lives, yet her behavior on the sideline is unlike anything we've ever seen before. As soon as the opponent leads the scoreboard, she loses all willpower. I don't know how you can expect a team to stay positive and motivated when the head coach has already given up in the first quarter. She throws her hat, acts like an angry ill-mannered child, and disrespects her own assistant. We were embarrassed to wear Longwood gear at our daughter's games. She thinks that she's entitled to do anything she wants, but if the Longwood Athletic Department wasn't so loose and unprofessional, she would have already been fired. Aside from that, she’s all bark but no bite. When you talk to her, you can sense how insecure she actually is in her coaching role. After all, Kylar Ferguson has a lot of growing up to do if she wants to stay at this level and eventually become successful. Kylar Ferguson if you are reading this- you are supposed to be a professional, as well as a leader and role model for young women. Act like one."

"As much as she knows about the sport and always had a game plan it was how she treated players that made me walk away! If you weren’t one of her favorites she never gave you game time even if your stats or experience was better than others. She would tear you down and not build you up after. If you were injured all she said was you are fine and to keep playing. She has all the potential to be an amazing coach but she doesn’t care for everyone she coaches and it causes issues. I know many players that walked away and said they lost love for the sport or got mentally abused by her. If you dont kiss up to her you wont see the field. "

"Positives: "Coach Ferg" is extremely knowledgeable about lax and makes up efficient game plans. Her practices are well planned out and she is very organized. She cares about academics and will motivate you to achieve greater goals. Negatives (which definitely overweigh): Her communication is very poor or rather non-existent. You'll never know where you are athletically if you're not lucky to be one of her favorites. Her mood swings are extreme and you'll never know what happens next. One day you'll be starting and the next you'll be on the sideline with her ignoring you all day long. She will advocate for herself by saying she's an honest person, but that's not true at all. She does not care about players' well-being and mentally abuses the girls she personally doesn't like. A lot of my teammates are mentally exhausted because of her and lost their love for lacrosse- some left the team already and more are thinking about it. It's extremely disappointing, especially since Coach Ferg just came in as the new head coach after our old one got fired. She really lures you in at the beginning and makes you feel like she'll create a winning culture and you'll play for a dream coach and program. The team culture actually has been breaking apart under her lead. Ultimately, her behavior on the sideline is beyond embarrassing. She is extremely rude to her own players and the refs, and her comments and threats are not only unprofessional but extremely inappropriate. Although most coaches are passionate on the sideline, Coach Ferguson doesn't have herself under control at all and makes the program look ridiculous and embarrassing. Despite her profound knowledge of the sport, Longwood Lax finished poorly this season (4-12), which is due to her fatal decision-making. She creates insecurity on all ends and because of the lack of communication, e.g. no one is on the same page about plays but also too afraid to ask because of her emotional outbursts. This altogether leads to losing game after game, no matter the talent on the field. After games, she makes you pay for her own mistakes by either harassing you vocally or making you do punishment workouts. She is constantly making emotional instead of professional decisions and loses sight of the real goal of her job (winning or doing what's best for the team). Under her leadership, I have no doubt that Longwood Lacrosse will fail as a program."

"Kylar Ferguson is the best coach I've ever had. Despite her young age, she knows the game really well and has everything planned out in her head when it comes to creating a winning culture. There's a huge difference between "nice" and "kind"; and she is definitely kind, as she deeply cares about the whole team and creates a safe, welcoming, and loving environment. She is intensely passionate/emotional about coaching and puts everything she has into her job. I'm incredibly thankful to have gotten to know her and am super PROUD to be able to play for her. Once you show her that you put in the effort and want nothing but to grow as a (team-) player, the sky is the limit."
