"The worst coach — and frankly one of the worst people — I’ve ever encountered in my life. I played for Naomi while she was the head coach at Loyola and she systematically destroyed the mental and emotional well-being of young athletes.
She is a horrible communicator, lacks basic empathy, and is just a generally awful human to be around. She did not care for her player’s development — on or off the field. She divided the team by enforcing different standards for different players. She was utterly disrespectful and once referred to a player as a “r****d” in front of the entire team. That language is absolutely unacceptable.
Her behavior was frequently bizarre, bitter, and flat-out unhinged. In one team meeting, she had us look around the room and (referring to our own teammates) said, “These people are not your friends. You think they’ll be bridesmaids in your wedding one day? They won’t.” I can’t even begin to unpack how bizarre, unnecessary, and odd those comments are. She was probably projecting her own insecurities of having zero friends from her own college experience. I’m now married and four of my college teammates stood beside me as bridesmaids. Meanwhile, Naomi projects her own deep-seated bitterness and inability to form healthy relationships onto others. She simply doesn’t know how to connect with people — as a coach, as a leader, or as a human being.
The damage she inflicted on her players extended far beyond college soccer. Many of my former teammates left the sport entirely, unable to play after graduation because she had sucked the joy and passion out of something they once loved. She didn’t just coach poorly, she categorically ruined the sport for people who dedicated years of their lives to it. That level of harm is inexcusable. I would never send my child — or any child — to any program that allowed her anywhere near it.
I could easily write a book detailing the countless examples of her incompetence. She should never be in a position of leadership over the development of young women— or anyone. "
"Coach Naomi is one of the best additions to Loyola Women's Soccer Team. She believes in us, understands our situations, and respects us as people. She has truly helped me on the field improve in areas I was struggling in. "
