"Although he has a lot of behind the scenes work to do as head coach, Neal makes sure the team culture is fun and supportive. He hired some of the best coaches i’ve ever met who all care about the swimmers not just in the pool but in general life and academics. When being coached by him there is no doubt you can trust he knows what he’s doing, I just wish we got more time with him on poolside, as he really is a good coach, with lots of knowledge to share. Thanks coach Neal for making me feel important not just as a swimmer but a person on this team."

"Neal is easy going and does not too intense. He unfortunately only focuses on his top swimmers, which the majority are international. The efforts of the slower swimmers in the pool, academically, and community involvement is not recognized nor appreciated. He gives too much power to a very judgmental assistant coach, Athena. But if you want to swim but not live and die by swimming like other D1 programs and want to have fun with great teammates FSU is your place. "

"I had such a good experience being coached by Neal. Neal made a lot of changes this year, he brought in new coaches (positive people) and held all of the negative and lazy athletes accountable (no more missing practices). The team is so much better for these changes. Last year we had a couple of negative coaches and negative athletes. They've thankfully moved on and the team is SO much better off. "

"The head coach Neal and the rest of the staff are amazing. He’s passionate about coaching and holds us to a high standard. This is D1 after all! The only reason to be mad is if you don’t travel or don’t work hard and show up to practice. That would be on the you, not coach. Our team works hard, there are a couple that don’t and they are no long part of our team or they are on the way out. The rest of us are killing it and having fun.. FSU is for hardworking serious swimmers that also have fun."
