"Coach Rose does not have the ability to empathize with her athletes in any form or fashion. She does not respect goals athletes have for themselves. It is her way or the highway, which can be a good form of coaching in some aspects, but not all. Her coaching style is harsh. She tries to coach in the classroom, as well as the pool, and athletes day to day lives. Her athletes are expected max performance in everything they do, increasing athlete anxiety and decreasing athlete mental health. Athletes feel as if they are under a microscope constantly, everything they do wrong, in her eyes, has a consequence. College students, at the Division 2 level, should not feel as if they are required to produce a 4.0 to keep their coach in a positive mood. College students, at the Division 2 level, swim because they love it, not because they are training for the Olympics. College students, at the Division 2 level, do not need to feel as if they have an extra parental figure breathing down their neck. Coach Rose has good intentions but poor executions. She does not get to know each and everyone of her athletes for who they are and why they are persuing their sport further. She aggressively projects her emotions on the pool deck. If Coach Rose is having a bad day, so is everyone who steps on the pool deck. Showing disappointment can be a good coaching tactic, not in her case. She is extremely passive aggressive, there is always a backhanded comment said either to an athletes face, over text, or to another teammate. Her athletes are not happy and healthy. There are many cases of poor mental health in her athletes, which stem from her poor coaching strategies. As a coach, she gets things done. She is organized when it comes to meets and practices, but organization is not all coaching is. Coaching is a relationship and she is not organized in her relationships with her athletes. Athletes are tied to her for financial reasons and some don’t have the resources to get out. Athletes do not recommend her as a coach or a trusted person. Though, her favorites would disagree… the majority of her athletes are not considered favorites. Her athletes are strong individuals who work hard in every aspect of their lives, there is no reason for her have such a lack of empathy and respect towards her athletes. With that being said, her athletes should not fear and lack trust in their leader. She needs to step up. "
