"Coach David will always be your number one fan and your biggest cheerleader. He is the best support system even when you aren’t doing your best. Whether it’s your best day or your worst day you can always talk to him."
"Coach Rose does not have the ability to empathize with her athletes in any form or fashion. She does not respect goals athletes have for themselves. It is her way or the highway, which can be a good form of coaching in some aspects, but not all. Her coaching style is harsh. She tries to coach in the classroom, as well as the pool, and athletes day to day lives. Her athletes are expected max performance in everything they do, increasing athlete anxiety and decreasing athlete mental health. Athletes feel as if they are under a microscope constantly, everything they do wrong, in her eyes, has a consequence. College students, at the Division 2 level, should not feel as if they are required to produce a 4.0 to keep their coach in a positive mood. College students, at the Division 2 level, swim because they love it, not because they are training for the Olympics. College students, at the Division 2 level, do not need to feel as if they have an extra parental figure breathing down their neck. Coach Rose has good intentions but poor executions. She does not get to know each and everyone of her athletes for who they are and why they are persuing their sport further. She aggressively projects her emotions on the pool deck. If Coach Rose is having a bad day, so is everyone who steps on the pool deck. Showing disappointment can be a good coaching tactic, not in her case. She is extremely passive aggressive, there is always a backhanded comment said either to an athletes face, over text, or to another teammate. Her athletes are not happy and healthy. There are many cases of poor mental health in her athletes, which stem from her poor coaching strategies. As a coach, she gets things done. She is organized when it comes to meets and practices, but organization is not all coaching is. Coaching is a relationship and she is not organized in her relationships with her athletes. Athletes are tied to her for financial reasons and some don’t have the resources to get out. Athletes do not recommend her as a coach or a trusted person. Though, her favorites would disagree… the majority of her athletes are not considered favorites. Her athletes are strong individuals who work hard in every aspect of their lives, there is no reason for her have such a lack of empathy and respect towards her athletes. With that being said, her athletes should not fear and lack trust in their leader. She needs to step up. "
"From day one Coach Buzz has believed in me and my teammates. He has held us to a higher standard than any of us could and has made us all better people and better lacrosse players through his coaching. He is an amazing leader and motivator. "
"Coach Buzz has shown me nothing but respect and motivation since the day I’ve been him. He is a incredible leader and person with unique experiences that I have never seen in any other coach. He is very direct, intense, and honest. I value honestly above all else and it is such a good feeling to know my coach will always tell me how it is. He balances being a coach and a friend perfectly, an has my upmost respect."
"Coach Buzz truly cares about his players and the development of young men on and off the field. Great coach and helps create a good hard working team environment."
"The man is the most honest Coach I’ve ever met. He’ll make sure you’re doing the best of your abilities as well as be a great person to model yourself to. "
"Coach buzzard is one of the better coaches of had the joy to play under he always is getting us to put in extra work in the classroom and on the field with individuals he is growing the program to a place no one would have expected and he is just an all around great guy and coach"
"Coach Buzzard, is not only a great coach , but is also a great guy. He turned around the D&E team to not only having a championship level team in the future, But also into incredible young men. With this being his 2nd year as their head coach, buzz has made an amazing impact. He shows the passion he has for not only the sport but for his players. He is a true leader to his team."
"Coach Buzz has definitely been more than just a coach to me. He has sit down with me and talked me through situations when I had no one else to go to and I could never be more thankful. As a coach, he has a great offensive mind and knows how to keep us engaged during practice. Overall, he’s 100% the best coach I’ve had to this point."
"He is a very good guy. Cares a lot about his team and the sport of lacrosse. I have a lot of respect for this man as he continues to make Davis & Elkins Lacrosse better each year he is head coach. He is loved dearly by the guys on the team and would 100% would recommend him to be a head coach anywhere. "
"Josh Buzzard is a phenomenal coach, with Josh provides lots of detail on every drill and is very passionate for the game of lacrosse. All in all a amazing coach."
"Coach Buzzard has been very inspiring to me and a whole bunch of various people. not only on the lacrosse field, but off the field as well. he knows when work needs to be done and knows how to have fun. Intense but amazing coach! "
"A great coach who truly knows how to motivate his players. Very passionate about the game and the systems but also knows when to just let his players play. He’s a very motivated coach who does a great job at getting everyone working towards the same goal. He has played a major role in turning the culture around at D&E and any player would be lucky to have him as a leader."
"Coach Buzz is a great lacrosse mind with a strong passion and respect for the game. He is very motivated to be the best we can be on and off the field. His military background shows us how to work together towards a common goal to create success and changed the culture of Davis and Elkins in one year of being in charge of the Men’s Lacrosse team. I’ve had many coach’s in my life with a wide variety of backgrounds and styles and I’d have to say this is the best coach I’ve ever had."
"He did not have the respect of his players and could not motivate them. He kept changing the plays because the team could not win with his strategies. He is a very poor leader."
