"Again, Cards get two great recruiting classes for '22 and '23 but unless the culture and coaching is changed, no progress will be made towards a national championship. Its no different that the two previous year recruiting classes being top in the country (pre season team ranked in top 5), and yet with all the recruiting success the best Goldstein has managed is a measly round of 16 NCAA (only 3 times in his 10-year tenure at stanford), and one outright Pac12 championship title (when Boyer was there). Goldstein has zero coaching skills and has no idea how to develop players and no idea how to run a practice or motivate players. The team doesnt even have a dedicated tennis-centric strength and conditioning trainer (they share with other teams). The fact that Geller, who was #1 in the world in juniors with a 142 MPH serve isn't playing pro is a sad tragedy and sad testament to the extremely poor coaching - its almost impossible to F-up a world #1 ranked junior!. If you can't win a national championship with Geller Boyer Fery Sridhar Roetsart Sah Basing, etc., you can't win with any team! To put it factually, when looking at player data and results, Goldstein is the worst coach in Stanford history. The highest ATP ranked player he has coached in his 10 years at stanford is Tom Fawcett at 440atp - that is just pitiful. Geller's high was 536 atp. What a joke and so disappointing to see such great player talent getting wasted. With all the resources stanford has they should have world class coaching and world class player development and world class personnel"
"Not a positive person, very insecure, and odd personality. Uncomfortable socially. Extremely poor communicator and players have raised concerns about this. He never coached any player or team prior to being hired by stanford 9 years ago. Made it to the NCAA rd of 16 only twice in 9 years and won the Pac12 only once, despite having some of the best recruiting classes in school history, including Geller (#1 junior in world) and Boyer (#5 junior in world) and Fery (#11 junior in world).
Recruits and parents have complained about his honesty and integrity. Players don't respect him. Doesn't know how to run a practice or develop players, or manage a team. Geller entered as a freshman with a 14.75 UTR, now he is a 13.4. Boyer left team after allegedly poor decision making by coach. Other players disgruntled and team chemistry has been reported in media as bad. Other coaches don't respect him. If you want to get better as a player, don't go to stanford. Lots of injuries because the team doesn't have a dedicated tennis-specific trainer. Don't believe a word Paul says.
"
"Paul basically is a liar. No consistency, no trust. He is very rude. I would say he doesn’t know what he is doing to the kids. He is good at destroying kids’ confidence. I feel sorry about him. I am lucky my son is not under his coach! He doesn’t know how to organize the team. "
"This coach does not have integrity during the recruiting. He Should not be allowed to represent an elite school like Stanford. Under his coaching, Stanford gets top recruits year over year but the program has been underperforming for years. Think about it, There must be a reason behind it."
