"A complete 180 she is taking feedback from players and staff to be a better coach. Players respect her, assistants respect her. Don’t believe everything you hear, Danielle Spencer is a good and passionate coach. Her job is to win, but she goes above and beyond off the field to make sure every player is heard and seen as a person first and then as a lacrosse player. Big things are to come "
"She is an unstable narcissist. Don't be fooled but her playing record . Manipulative and mean. Pits players agt each other. Her instability destroys a team culture. Humiliation is her go to.
"
"Ran off top donors. Ran off 5 assistant coaches. Sue by one former assistant. Has never gotten past the first round of the NCAA’s at Stanford. Not a nice person. "
"The turnover in her coaching staff is reflective of her poor organizational and leadership skills. It is a revolving door of assistant coaches as DS herself seeks to jump ship. Despite her assertions that she is staying put, everyone know she is looking to leave. "
"Coach Spencer is a narcissistic person who only cares about winning. Beware of this woman - she is the perfect example of what is wrong with college sports. Its a joke that a school that values integrity employees a coach with none. "
"This coach is an overgrown child with no values or morals. She will run over your dog if in her way.
It’s ironic that Stanford talks about integrity and values when they employ this awful women who uses adolescences like pawns and throws them away like trash when she doesn’t need them. She takes no responsibility for her actions and yet she is put on a pedestal - she is everything that is wrong with sports and ruins girls experiences. She doesn’t care about the kind of players on her team. And sadly Stanford is just waiting for another suicide of a college athlete instead of taking action. "
"Coach Danielle Spencer is a horrible person. She will stop at nothing to get what she wants. She us dishonest and has no care about the kind of player she is recruiting. She only cares about winning and not the collateral damage she creates. She is an embarrassment to the sport and Stanford. "
"Again, Cards get two great recruiting classes for '22 and '23 but unless the culture and coaching is changed, no progress will be made towards a national championship. Its no different that the two previous year recruiting classes being top in the country (pre season team ranked in top 5), and yet with all the recruiting success the best Goldstein has managed is a measly round of 16 NCAA (only 3 times in his 10-year tenure at stanford), and one outright Pac12 championship title (when Boyer was there). Goldstein has zero coaching skills and has no idea how to develop players and no idea how to run a practice or motivate players. The team doesnt even have a dedicated tennis-centric strength and conditioning trainer (they share with other teams). The fact that Geller, who was #1 in the world in juniors with a 142 MPH serve isn't playing pro is a sad tragedy and sad testament to the extremely poor coaching - its almost impossible to F-up a world #1 ranked junior!. If you can't win a national championship with Geller Boyer Fery Sridhar Roetsart Sah Basing, etc., you can't win with any team! To put it factually, when looking at player data and results, Goldstein is the worst coach in Stanford history. The highest ATP ranked player he has coached in his 10 years at stanford is Tom Fawcett at 440atp - that is just pitiful. Geller's high was 536 atp. What a joke and so disappointing to see such great player talent getting wasted. With all the resources stanford has they should have world class coaching and world class player development and world class personnel"
"Not a positive person, very insecure, and odd personality. Uncomfortable socially. Extremely poor communicator and players have raised concerns about this. He never coached any player or team prior to being hired by stanford 9 years ago. Made it to the NCAA rd of 16 only twice in 9 years and won the Pac12 only once, despite having some of the best recruiting classes in school history, including Geller (#1 junior in world) and Boyer (#5 junior in world) and Fery (#11 junior in world).
Recruits and parents have complained about his honesty and integrity. Players don't respect him. Doesn't know how to run a practice or develop players, or manage a team. Geller entered as a freshman with a 14.75 UTR, now he is a 13.4. Boyer left team after allegedly poor decision making by coach. Other players disgruntled and team chemistry has been reported in media as bad. Other coaches don't respect him. If you want to get better as a player, don't go to stanford. Lots of injuries because the team doesn't have a dedicated tennis-specific trainer. Don't believe a word Paul says.
"
"He’s very knowledgeable of the sport and leadership. Demands the best of each player each day and will not accept anything less. Has his favorites that have more wiggle room to fail on the field and still play. Emphasizes a military-like mentality."
"Paul is a good guy.
But good coach?
I think the statistics speak for themselves. If a player gets into Stanford you must accept. Look at team results and look at player underachievement and lack of improvements. Don’t expect a coach who is going to take your tennis to the next level.
Just because the coach was an excellent pro player, that doesn’t automatically translate to being a good coach. Make sure you get everything in writing during the recruiting process. Different style.
"
"Paul basically is a liar. No consistency, no trust. He is very rude. I would say he doesn’t know what he is doing to the kids. He is good at destroying kids’ confidence. I feel sorry about him. I am lucky my son is not under his coach! He doesn’t know how to organize the team. "
"This coach does not have integrity during the recruiting. He Should not be allowed to represent an elite school like Stanford. Under his coaching, Stanford gets top recruits year over year but the program has been underperforming for years. Think about it, There must be a reason behind it."
"JJ Clark is a fantastic head coach who does a wonderful job at creating and maintaining a healthy and cohesive team dynamic. He cares deeply about each athlete on a personal level. "
"She is AMAZING. Coming from the East Coast, college in CA was a scary thought but she welcomed all of us to the team with open arms. She is basically my mother on campus and not only is she supportive but she is also a leader in the fencing community. Could not ask for a better coach. Period. "
"Lisa is the perfect college coach. She seeks to challenge you and push you while making sure to keep you engaged and not take the love of fencing out of training. She has the well-being of her athletes in mind and is so kind and understanding. "
"Lele tends to have a more hands-off approach, which in the scheme of things, is definitely for the best. She was a former Stanford athlete and understands the rigorous demands of the academics as well as exploring other interests other than tennis. However, if you need anything, it will be on you to approach her. Communication is not her forte."
"JT is a wonderful coach. He is very knowledgeable and truly cares about players as people. He teaches us so much more than just water polo. Really nice guy and can be quite formal until you get to know him better. Cares the most about winning. Will be very supportive if you respect him. If you ask for honesty and clarity he will always give it. "
"Lele is a great coach. At first, you may not understand her personality because she can be more reserved. But don’t let that get in the way because once you get to know her, she truly is one of, if not the, best coach in colleges women’s tennis."

"Brian is not transparent with players, recruits, or parents. The culture on this team is toxic and Brian ignores it and continues to promote toxic players. Brian does not respect the fact that student athletes are students first. "

"Brian is not professional. He plays favorites, withholds information, and does not understand that student athletes are students first. The culture on this team is horrible, and Brian just ignores toxic aspects and continues to reward individuals who contribute to this bad culture. He is not upfront with recruits or parents. "
"Lele Forood is a legend in the tennis world. She has accomplished so much not only as a coach, but as a player. She can relate to the members of the team well while still keeping the attitude on the court serious and professional. She always has the big picture in mind and never fails to motivate us in times of great importance. "
"Brilliant man, ton of knowledge but translating it into motivational messaging and "rallying the troops" isn't Shaw. He leaves that to the strength staff or Coach Alamar (if he's still there). Don't expect to get close to Shaw. He keeps relatively to himself which is fine and you should respect. The program culture is professionalism and business. "
"Coach Derek is one of the most approachable and invested coaches I have ever had. He is a top notch man who CARES about his athletes in a way many college coaches do not. "
"Maybe the most creative swim coach in the sport right now. He has produced many National Team members, All-Americans, and many more accomplished swimmers, and knows how to help any swimmer, draw on their strengths and improve their weaknesses to reach their full potential - all while making training and the journey fun and enjoyable."
"Great guy! He absolutely loved the game of baseball and thoroughly enjoys being at the field and getting work in. He makes everything about the players, and makes sure he and his staff is always there to work extra within he guys whether it's before or after practice."
"Ricardo is an all-around amazing coach. He is extremely personable and as a D1 All-American himself,Ricardo knows everything he needs to about competing at the collegiate level. As an Iona alumnus,Coach Santos gives 100% to the program and to those who are a part of it. Ricardo's investment into the program is noticeable through years of excellence"
"JT is supportive and motivational. He understands the skills and fitness necessary for a great water polo player and water polo team. He also understands team dynamics and works to unite the team to be successful. He plays hot and cold though, sometimes giving positive, constructive feedback, and other times giving borderline hurtful comments."
"Very knowledgeable and will do anything it takes to win, including ostracizing players who will not be of use to him. Absolutely loves mental games and tries to get into your head. "
"JT really knows the game of water polo. His system of play not only allows structure but also creativity. He is also very passionate about not just building the athlete but also the person. Criticism would be that whether he means to or not, he plays mind games with his players with where they stand in the team as well as playing time."
"He is a great guy who knows the sport and cares about the team. His personality is very particular and some people do not get along with him as well as I do."
"She is a good coach who understands the game and wants her players to succeed. At times, she does not understand the rigorous academic schedule when getting too caught up in season and important games."
"Tabitha is an incredible coach. She is just as passionate as the gymnasts, and consistently does everything in her power to make sure that her athletes not only achieve their goals related to gymnastics, but also for their future. She is tough, but understanding, and she is incredibly inspiring and motivational. She stresses the importance if family on a team, and she makes sure that all personal problems with athletes are resolved, or dealt with in a proper manner."
