"If you are not a middle distance runner, you really don't have much contact with Sandavol other than team meetings. The individual coaches are all very competent and are responsible for the bulk of work when it comes to running the team. His motivational speeches are fairly good, but he frequently has MASSIVE foot-in-mouth moments. "
"I had a terrible experience at UC Berkeley. When you are a star athlete, you get treated like a work horse. All they care about is winning, not the well being of the athlete. If you're performing well you get special treatment and if you don't perform you get kicked to the curb. Meritocracy at its best."
"Coach Sandoval is a great coach, knowing how to operate a track and field team effectively and fluidly. His position seems more of a figurehead position than that of an actual coach, as his assistants do most of the work in both practice and meets. He is closer with some groups on the track team than others, which leads to lopsided communication. Nevertheless, he gets the job done."
