"Honestly, this coach has no business leading a Division 1 program. He doesn’t really understand the game at a high level and tries to run a system that doesn’t make sense and clearly doesn’t work. It felt like we were just going through the motions with no real purpose or direction. He also showed zero concern for athletes’ mental health. There was no support, no checking in—just pressure with no understanding. On top of that, he constantly disrespected his own staff, even though he always talked about being a “united front” in front of the team. It was all talk, no action. Itfelt like he was more about control than actually helping us grow. It was frustrating, draining, and honestly disappointing to be part of. He is mentally unstable and takes out his personal matters and emotions on players.
"
"Coach is well aware of the toxicity on his team and does nothing about it. There is no team building activities promoted or encouraged. He promises his players playtime, tells them to warm up and never puts them in. Highly favors his international recruits even when his bench players are beating us starters during practice. Personally, I don’t know how he’s been here for this long. If you are looking to play here, I’d check the roster. Coach makes empty promises. 16 International players will tell you what you need. So many kids transfer to other D1 programs play at their school so it’s definitely not ability. "
"Honestly in my 4 years at Iona, Brian has been a huge pain in my behind. He honestly doesn’t know much about the sport and I(One of his best male athletes in program history) and other decorated athletes (male and female) have expressed only negative things about Brian’s ability to coach a division1 program. "
"Is this Rec Soccer? Running across the field to take a throw in? How many turnovers do w they have this season on throw ins? What a joke- even the announcers today commented on it."
"Former player watched Niagara game- politics are real- getting beat and beat and eventually Niagara scores- amount of turnovers by players whose parents call coach and continue to play- will be hard to win a game "
"Has favorites. (Politics) Doesn’t run a good practice- team is not ready for competition bc of this. Incites drama by talking with players about other players. Doesn’t matter if you work hard at practice or not- you can miss or sit out and still start. "
"Favors his International recruits- promises them a lot. Any home grown players are treated like practice players-Feel bad for the freshman coming in thinking they will get an opportunity to showcase your abilities. If you do, it will be for 8 mins during the winter season and then you are benched for the rest of the season. Gives you false hope! Toxic environment amongst the players; only the level headed will thrive. Good luck to the new recruits! "
"Guys a loser.
Pulled all his starters off to let manhattan win.
Something was shady? Maybe he had money on the game ? Invites players to his id camps for the money. Should be fired ! "
"When Lucy was my coach she was an amazing person to bring the energy and confidence to her players. She was a friend and also makes an amazing assistant AD!"
"Coach Lucy is super down to earth, fun and always willing to help. She is intense and demands a certain behaviour but it isn't anything crazy. She has the mindset of work hard and have the right attitude and values and you'll do well. She's always going to back you and she won't ever say or ask you to do anything she wouldn't or hasn't. If you are running full fields she's running them with you. If your doing homework and need help she's helping you. And she works her butt off. She's Great"
"Marty is a wonderful coach who cares about his players! He is always focusing on how he can develop them into better teammates and overall student-athletes."
"Brian is a coach who cares deeply about the overall success of the player. Sports, academics, and personal life are all aspects of my life that I trust BK to help to enable my success."
"Very good at treating her athletes right. But if you need a coach to motivate you, she's not for you. Very passive and reactive in games and doesn't know the game well."
"Ricardo is an all-around amazing coach. He is extremely personable and as a D1 All-American himself,Ricardo knows everything he needs to about competing at the collegiate level. As an Iona alumnus,Coach Santos gives 100% to the program and to those who are a part of it. Ricardo's investment into the program is noticeable through years of excellence"
"She truly cares about your personal life as well as your softball career. You won't find a more companionate coach who will fight for you every chance she gets. "
