"Kati plays complete favorites and has treated the players she did not recruit vs. did very differently. She acts as though she wants to win games yet can’t surpass 3 wins as she only plays her favorites and those with “potential.” She comes from D1 programs, yet cannot recruit or retain players. Fat-shamed players on the team and has bent the rules for her favorites. "
"She truly cares about the players, but she is not meant to be a head coach. While I was on the team, it felt like there were three assistant coaches. Jenn never wanted to step up and would let other coaches take the lead for her. She was incredibly passive-aggressive, and you would truly only get good, real feedback if you asked her for a private 1-on-1 outside of our already 3-hour practices every day. Her coaching methods were interesting at best. She would do drills that we all did when we were 8 years old, expecting to see some change in our style of play. Practices were hardly ever effective, yet she would wonder why we would lose. We very often had the same practice three times a week with very few changes. She forced us to go through trainings, which didn't apply to anything that was happening on our team ever. She wasn't a good coach and truly led so many of us to hate the sport. She never communicated her true wants if you weren't a favorite, it was incredibly obvious who was vs. who wasn't. "
"Despite a number of health challenges in my career at McDaniel, Coach Renner has always put my best interests first and has tried to give me support when he can. He has always made adjustments to cultivate my success and health, and for that I am forever grateful. Workouts are great and a positive team first atmosphere is cultivated while chasing individual success."
"One of the best coaches I’ve ever worked with. He knows what he is doing and genuinely cares about his athletes performance in the sport and there success outside the sport."
"Doug Renner should not be coaching, or frankly in any position of authority over young men and women. Not only does he display a shocking and open prejudice against Christian athletes on his team, but he spends more time ogling girls on opposing teams than he does coaching his own athletes. He also knew about and continued to allow an assistant coach on his staff (James Ways) to engage in a sexual relationship with a girl on the team (who also had a boyfriend) and threatened disciplinary actions against athletes who brought this up. Doug Renner shouldn’t just be fired, he should be criminally charged. Definitely some skeletons in his closet. "
"While in season we were constantly yelled at with no direction on how to correct ourselves with many of my former teammates crying before during and after practices and games. Practices do not consist of drills but rather “every days” which did not allow us to grow as athletes but practice the same things 4 days a week. There are no breaks in the week three days of practice and two days of weight lifting along with camps, combines, or fundraisers that are mandatory left a lot of players with only the mornings to themselves. Multiple of my former teammates constantly complained about being lied to and never getting a straight answer on playing time. The other coaches from this team is what made our players true college athletes while sadly coach Smith cause a lot of distress to people’s mental health."
"I was able to be recruited by Coach Corrieri and he showed his ability to lead and be a great coach. After many conversations with him I saw his leadership qualities and how passionate he was about the game. I ended up looking for different options in terms of schools but Coach Corrieri was a great recruiter!"
"This was a very average campus visit. Nothing crazy but it wasn't bad either. This wasn't a school for me but I could see others going and enjoying it. "
"When I went, the team was on their first year competing in their conference, so the team was not put together and it was much different then attending another camp but the overall school was very nice."
"Coach Renner is the most underrated Coach at McDaniel College. He has truly turned my athletic career from what was considered non-existent to something worth talking about. It was Coach Renner who reached out to me after hearing that I’d run around campus for fun during COVID, only having been involved in field events on the XCTF team, not running. His pursuing me to join the distance team during my junior year changed my life. His motto is to trust and follow his plan, and all will work out. I went from a 28 6k runner my first XC season to a 23:10 during my second season- with just ONE full year of training under his plan. When I began to excel like this, Renner even moved me into the men’s team for training, believing that I was good enough to train with the men and that I’d get better from this. He absolutely believes in every athlete as long as they show up and trust him. In my last year running at McDaniel, Coach Renner lead me to a Conference Title in the 10k. I went from not even being top 20 in track events my junior year to WINNING a title exactly two years later. Lastly, Coach Renner cares about people’s lives deeply outside of running. He will help athlete’s with their job searches, tutoring, and even take athletes to the airport when they live far away and return home. If you want to improve and be where a coach believes in you—- come to McDaniel. "
