"The coach has a good understanding of the sport, but he also seems to struggle with anger management issues. There are concerns about his attendance, as it's unclear how many days he's actually missing due to childcare responsibilities that should have been addressed outside of work hours. Only the people on deck really know when he isn't there, as I doubt higher-ups would know what happens on the pool deck since no athlete complains. As he is compensated by Seton Hall to fulfill his coaching duties, it would be beneficial if he could fully commit to his role or otherwise hand off the head coach position to the assistant. Team culture is good."

"Very old school mentality — pushed us through injury and illness to compete and commonly made comments regarding weight. Motivational in speaking and cared somewhat for the athlete"

"I personally loved Coach Smith. She truly cares about her players and their well being. My freshman year we would have weekly check ins to ensure you were adjusting well to college and handling everything well emotionally, mentally, and in the classroom. She did struggle to keep the team culture and team environment in good condition, but one on one if you build a relationship with her she will always have your back. A little goofy at times, and not the most organized but I liked her. "

"Ang is a great weights coach. He is approachable and knowledgeable but you have to crack a shell to get to him. Doesn't know much about the sport that I did, but made an effort to understand it. Cool guy and sometimes let us pick what music we wanted in the weight room haha"

"Andrew Leblanc is a good coach overall. He is an assistant to a coach that doesn't seem to let him do much on his own, but is a personable coach in the long run. He swam for Seton Hall, so he doesn't have much experience outside of the school but excels in training in IM and Distance. His sets make sense when he's the one that makes them and he listens to his athletes and responds, even if there are multiple sarcastic comments. "

"Derek is a very young head coach. He has some great experience in coaching stroke and sprint, and is working on his distance coaching abilities. He is one of the most caring coaches I have ever had and is trying to do the right thing even though sometimes it is hard to agree with his stance. He cares for the person not just the athlete. "

As any first time head coach he has a lot to learn which comes with experiance.He is a strong sprint coach/his distance coaching has gotten better.Team atmosphere is great"

He produced great distance swimmers, but our sprint team was less than stellar (but came in as great recruits). I'd not suggest a sprinter or stroke swimmer train under him. The team overall was great- very positive and fun teammates. Support of athletes at Seton Hall was fantastic too, and there was definitely a sense of family across all sports. I enjoyed my time as an athlete overall, just had my concerns about the head swim coach's ability to train across the sport."
