"I wish I could give Kathy zero stars for caring and honest. She was never honest from the day I met her. She lied straight through her teeth in front of my parents and I and will probably lie to you and your family too. She likes to play this "caring mother" act and tell all parents and athletes that she will be there for us as a second mom since our own mothers can't be, which is more than FALSE so don't fall for this crap. I truly think she believes her own lies to make her feel better about herself. She does not care about you as a person so do not try to seek that out of her and she does not want whats best for you as a player and as a PERSON. SHE HAS NO FEELINGS. Also, she has her favorites, which will be extremely obvious, but even they don't like her. No one likes her. She does not coach. She sits back in her lululemon tennis outfits and lets the other coaches clean up after her and do EVERYTHING for her. I wish I had a better experience because she did ruin soccer for me because made me want to quit numerous times. I even had to start seeing a therapist because she was just so awful as a person. She will probably fat shame you right to your face, multiple times too, so prepare yourself for that. In terms of soccer, if you are not in the starting 11, good luck seeing the field. You will feel blessed if you play even 10 minutes in a game because she does not sub anyone in, especially freshman. The only thing I got out of playing for Kathy was my teammates. We bond over her disgusting remarks and unjustifiable actions but it made us so close!"

"The best way to describe the culture she has created is just nothing. She pours no heart, soul, or passion into practice, games or the season. Doesn't really try hard to build relationships with the girls on the team. The team culture is fun because of the girls that are there and the way they hangout and come together off the field. None of that was facilitated by the coaching staff. There is little to none team bonding, there is heavy favoritism towards Maryland locals and internationals. If you come in as an okay player, don't expect to be developed or worked on. Strictly business over there, and she doesn't care about your feelings. Its unfortunate that she claims to be your second mother, but when you are actually struggling she never checked in or tried to help. I'm not here to bash, however I would just like to spread awareness of what really goes on. The love for the sport was drained out of me during the seasons when my worth was attached to coach appraisal and playing time. I felt like a just a number in their game and less of a actual player and person as the season went on. Communication was non-existent. Even while not playing, I believe the coach can still create a positive environment where you can enjoy your sport and feel supported. This is not the case here. However the rest of the Towson staff is amazing, and supportive. Athletic training, strength & conditioning, sports nutrition - very helpful!"

"Absolutely God awful. She singles people out for no reason whatsoever, and punishes the rest of the team if they remained friends with them. She would not play her best players out of spite for not bowing down to her. I am from Maryland and she was horrible towards me, so wouldn’t even say she is great to people from Maryland. She was obsessed with internationals and transfers so I will second that. She ruined my love for the sport, couldn’t even finish my time playing at Towson and the season before she came in I played nearly every second of every game. I had an extremely tough club coach so was used to yelling and tough standards, she degrades and verbally abuses you on a whole new level, and does so out of jealousy and spite, not in an effort to make you or the team better. She does not care about academics either, probably because she is not very educated herself. She will act like an Angel during the recruiting process but trust me will turn into a bitch the second you start playing for her. There numerous other schools in Maryland that I have heard great things about- avoid Towson at all costs while she is coach. "

"My experience with Lisa was a rollercoaster. I was one of her favorites, so my experience was not as bad as some peoples. I think outside of softball she is a good person, but we are out coached by almost every team we play. The assistant coaches, namely Jessie, is who kept me in this program. Do not let the fact that she has coached for 30+ years make you think that she is knowledgable about the game. Her assistants are the ones that run practices and deeply coach every aspect of the game, she does all of the administrative stuff. She does not care about fitness enough, and if there is one thing I would change it would be how much we should be conditioning. We need more of it, and it generally is our downfall towards the end of the season. With hitting she cares about quantity over quality. She only boosts your ego and will only talk about how good your swing 'looks' or not talk to you at all. We do not practice enough defense by any means, even though our defensive coach is one of the best ones I have ever played under. It is an often felt sentiment that the players are the ones that have to strive for greatness in spite of her. If I had a little sister that was wanting to play college ball, I would never let her enter this program. We have even had girls in the past that have told recruits not to come here. She also is terrible at recruiting and doesn't recruit players with winning mentality's. She recruits complainers and toxic people that end up hurting the program more than they are benefitting it. People also make terrible choices and decisions that often have ZERO consequences."

All players are afraid to make a mistake or you will get pulled out. This isnt a way to play a game. Every practice has turned into a punishement. Her Assistant Coaches hate her too. "This team has been systematically broken down this year with our new coach Kristen Carr. I never thought I would miss the unorganized coaching style of The Lamonicas. We are now to the point that we as a team are incapable of beating a decent D3 team. More specifically, Carr makes zero in game and halftime player adjustments. This Coach will see a train wreck approaching literally from 2 miles away and continue to walk right into its path. I am happy to be graduating and getting out of this team who will have no chance with Kristen Carr and the horrible coaching staff which she controls too. Coach has her favorites and these players get to stay on the field the whole game. Even when terrible mistakes are made. Normally coaches would make adjustments, not this coach. She is a looser. "

The assistant coach is obsessed with one his players and will literally get her out of any trouble. But if you’re not her or from Maryland, good luck getting some time because you are going to have to work so much harder in order to even step on the field. She knows no knowledge about soccer. "Coach was a liar. A straight up liar. There is a reason why over 20 girls left her program her first three years she was there. I was told that she only adored girls who were raised in Maryland or internationals. She made the players lives a living hell and she if you were an ok player your freshman year, she will never EVER play you. Might as well just transfer after your freshman year because she will look at you like you’re nothing. The soccer team isn’t amazing since she has been hired I don’t know why they extended her contract because she is ruining the program. So many players are in therapy because of her AND the assistant coaches. One of the assistant coaches is literally obsessed with one of the field players and only gives her attention and only talks about her. He treats her like she’s the best player in the world. The team culture is awful. I was told they always partied even during the season and all had their cliques. They all made poor decisions and she wouldn’t care if you were one of her favorites. If not, you’re screwed. Towson women's soccer has so much potential… and you pick those three as your coaching staff. Good work Towson… you’re ruining your reputation. "
