"Concerning to see a Division I program lose to a brand-new team, but what’s more troubling is the lack of in-game adjustments. When the same tactics continue despite clear issues, it puts players in a tough position. Leadership at this level requires accountability from the top — not shifting blame onto athletes who are executing the game plan they’re given."

"I used to be part of the VCU Cross Country and Track Team back in 2020. I quit in 2021. I will expose the real dark truth about VCU Cross Country and Track Team. Wesley Stephens didn’t treated me good. He made the team a very toxic environment to be in. He made the teammates not get along with each other and hate each other. This got me traumatize until this day. He made run by myself after coming back from a foot injury which I ended up getting lost and the neighbors in the Fan District saved my life from getting kidnapped and they ended up calling my dad. I was easy discriminated due to me being Hispanic. VCU Cross Country and Track Team is very discriminatory towards Hispanic, South Asian, and Asian student athletes. This coach and the head coach favor white and African American student athletes than any other minority groups. Please do yourself a favor, do not go to VCU to do cross country and track. Find another university to join cross country and track with a very good environment and a nice coach who does treat student athletes very good. "

The head coach Jon Riley treated me very bad. He was so rude to me over the phone and made me cry so bad. He wouldn’t allow any of our friends, family, and relatives to visit close to the track field and on the cross country and track meets. He didn’t even posted the student athletes rules and polices document on the VCU athletics website under cross country and track & field for something we should know as student athletes. This head coach wanted me out of VCU and the team itself. This made me almost transfer to an out of state university. He made the team a very toxic environment to be in. He made the teammates not get along with each other and hate each other. This got me traumatize until this day. I didn’t welcome by him and the cross coach Wesley Stephens at all and also by the team including teammates. I was easy discriminated due to me being Hispanic. VCU Cross Country and Track Team is very discriminatory towards Hispanic, South Asian, and Asian student athletes. This head coach favors White and African American student athletes than any other minority groups. Jon Riley needs to get fired and reassign immediately as soon as possible. VCU Athletics needs to do better of who they hire in coaches for cross country and track. Please do yourself a favor, do not go to VCU to do cross country and track. Find another university to join cross country and track with a very good environment and a nice coach who does treat student athletes very good. Do not waste your value, tuition, money, and time going to do cross country and track & field team here at VCU. "

"All we do is practice 8 meter shots and create an offense to draw 8 meter shots. How is that good coaching? Our goalies are awful which supposedly she has an expertise in. Cary street field advantage should give us a couple more wins this year than we should have. "
