"At one point he had starting lineup of transfers that all came from power 5 conferences. He had them for years and kept rotating their positions and the team formation that weren’t natural to any of them. He also would find out what you wanted to do after college, and use that against you if he was upset with you. Loves to create a horrible culture by creating a “captains group” mainly used for him to interrogate about his players personal lives. Chris also hated when any when any woman on the team had an opinion to give him- probably why he gave his male assistant coach his own office and the only girl coach we had just a seat in the corner of one. Yikes. He also claims to have played professionally but the man can’t even juggle a ball. If another school hires him it’s honestly just disregard for their female athletes at this point. "
"The worst Coach unreliable , liar, verbally abusive, no soccer intelligence, created a toxic negative team culture and pinned girls against each other. No respect for females. This goes along for his assistant coach Lucas Zicher. Terrible combination and wasted a great group of players and lost every season. Not qualified for more than u8 rec soccer. Finally got fired from Stetson we’ve been waiting for this day! Karma is a *****! "
"This coach has had losing seasons with great players because he does not have knowledge of the game and does not know how to set up a team for success. He has created a negative untrustworthy culture."
"If you love soccer, don’t play for him. You will experience mind games and never get answers from him. All business and soccer intelligence is horrible. He creates a horrible team culture because no one can trust him."
"Coach Max is one of the greatest coaches and leaders I've seen in college soccer. His passion and work ethic are unmatched. As a graduate from F&M, Coach Max played at a very high level and knows what it takes to win as a coach. My favorite thing about Coach Max is that he detests mediocrity and he never rests on his laurels. Coach Max taught me to be a better leader, player, and person and I can say with great certainty that I would not be the person I am today without the influence of Coach Max. He genuinely cares about his players and makes a concerted effort to build relationships with them, which consequently creates a strong culture. He held me accountable, empowered me to strive for excellence, and was even the first to reach out when there was a death in my family. There are many phrases that I think of when I think of Coach Max ("Embrace your role", "Servant Leadership", "Heart Full", "Championship Mentality", etc.). You hear these phrases the first day of your freshman year with him, but you really learn the true meaning behind them throughout your 4 year career. I can recall many anecdotal stories of what Coach Max taught me about soccer, leadership, and life, but the most important thing he taught me was (in soccer and in life) to "chase a feeling" rather than to chase silverware. To finish, Coach Max's ability to mentor young men and mold them into hardworking and responsible adults is invaluable. If you want to have a hell of an experience playing college soccer, play for Coach Max. "
"I was able to connect with Coach Watson in his time at the University of Mary Washington and Washington College. Although I never played for Coach Watson he recruited me to the 2 schools above and I was impressed by his level of initiative. He set in place the culture to turn the UMW men's soccer team around and was crucial in helping them win championships. "
"I had a wonderful college experience with Coach Ludtke. I set a personal best every season and was able to ask advice often regarding career and life. "
