"I’m extremely disappointed in Washington College’s decision to hire this coach. Since his arrival, team morale and player confidence have dropped dramatically, and what once was a proud volleyball tradition has suffered. Players who used to love the game now feel discouraged and disrespected. It’s a shame.
Communication with families is nonexistent, and his coaching approach is marked by excessive yelling and emotional manipulation. He has created an unhealthy team culture. Washington College should seriously reconsider this hire and take a close look at the environment being created within the program.
Recruits and families, please do your research before committing. Current players, know that you deserve a positive, supportive experience both on and off the court.

"IT has been an honor to witness Coach since 2012. I was lucky enough to have two sons play for him. They started off boys and ended as young men with very bright future. Coach cares more about players than almost every coach I’ve ever met. He has won national championships, national coach of the year award and continues to follow his players after their career ends. He always makes himself available to his players and gets the very best out of each player. His knowledge and commitment are unquestionable . If you have thin skin he may not be your cup of tea. If you want to improve your game , earn great grades and be taught what it means to be a man coach is your coach. Washington College made the finest choice ever by making him the head coach. This is not an individuals opinion, every player who ever played for him feels the same way. If you have the opportunity to play for coach it would be an opportunity of a lifetime. He will make you a winner on and off the field . "
"If the system allowed there would be zero stars for all categories.Terrible coach. More importantly terrible person. Creates an atmosphere of negativity, is not inclusive and does not create a team enviornment. His treatment of players has a negative effect on the players' well-being. Makes players feel disrespected, marginalized and ignored. Dishonest and Demotivating.Avoid at all costs."
"Aggressive, seems like a loose cannon, definitely a narcissist, bad energy, angry. Hot tempered, abusive. Stay away from this person, he’s going to snap someday. I feel really bad for his wife honestly, I hope he’s not abusive towards her or the kids, run Lindsey."
"I went on a campus visit to Washington College and was able to interact with Coach Dunshee and I was in awe. He was such a great leader and really cared about my time in the recruiting process. He asked about my personal life and my family and was dedicated in improving the squad. His leadership and attitude resonated with me, and even though I never got to work under him I knew he was a high level coach with high quality character."
"The facilities on my tour to Washington College were impressive. The most memorable was seeing the turf field from a box overlooking the entire field. Cool stuff!"
"I was able to take a visit to Washington College during my senior year of high school. I really enjoyed talking with Coach Dunshee and he provided me with a great tour. I was unable to do an overnight visit with the team due to a tournament but I enjoyed the school and the facilities. I only didn't end up going there because I wanted to go to a bigger school. Would definitely recommend."
"Overall great leader and great role model. He takes great pride in seeing his players succeed on and off the field. Coach Shirk wants the best for all of his players."
