"A lot can be said about Doug, in general he’s a good person who cares about your well being. You can talk to him if you are having trouble with someone and he will listen but don’t expect him to actively do anything. That being said he’s not a great coach, sets often lack direction and he can not run a taper at all. I’m not sure he knows much about swimming or is willing to put in any effort so if you are looking for a highly technical coach look elsewhere. In my 4 years at case I never once received stroke advice from him. He is not the worst coach I have ever had because he is not emotionally abusive and generally cares about athletes metal health. However he is prone to picking favorites so treatment is wildly different between athletes. Before going to swim for him think long and hard about your personal expectations and goals."
"Lack of knowledge. Poor management. Lack of appropriate attitude and team culture. Manipulative in bad ways. Takes no responsibility. Passes work onto others. Emotionally immature. Non-confrontational. Unmotivated.
He is a fine and decent person. Terrible coach at the end of the day. "
