"Doug is a very good guy and very accessible. He cares about his athletes and wants to see the team succeed. Unfortunately, I do not think he is the most knowledgeable coach ever. He is usually open to suggestions, especially from people on the team he likes, but the practices are average and will require some additional work if you want to continue to improve. At the end of the day, it is Division III Swimming, so I don’t expect to have Bob Bowman coaching me, but Doug could be better. However, much of the team enjoys using Doug’s mediocre coaching as a scapegoat for their poor performance despite putting in minimal effort, so don’t be fully swayed by more cutting reviews."
