Phoebe is truly incredible, and pushes people to their physical limits - but Brown recruits rowers who can handle it and who want to win titles. She can seem tough as nails on the water, but I can promise you that whenever my teammates or I needed support, she would show up for us. If you are looking for flowers and roses, the Brown boathouse (and championships) are not for you. "

"Puts rowing above all else and has complete disregard for anything academic/career related. With athletes putting in a mandatory 2-4 extra hours each week (not logged with compliance) , Phoebe has no regard for mental health or wellbeing. She has put crews in dangerous situations on the water and needs to reevaluate her coaching methods. Even long after my time at Brown, I look back on the treatment of my teammates in complete disbelief. Brown Women’s Crew is no longer the empowering force it once was and I am in shock that student athletes and Brown Administration are still letting this behavior go unnoticed. "
